No we won't shoot you provided you does mention Thunderbird again (the nickname of the only manager I wanted out straightaway). Signing Bairdinho was one of the few things he got right.
Sanchez in fact not only bought Baird but also Hughes and Murphy, both of whom have become mini legends for the club. The difference being that under Sanchez none of these three played particularly well, Baird in particular, which is probably the reason you took them with a pinch of salt.
Bandit is right, ScottSwan. Sanchez made some awful signings as well as some that initially didn't pay off but subsequently turned out to be excellent. Bairdinho was reviled during his first season and dropped once Hodgson arrived. He gradually rehabilitated himself with the fans in his second season and became a real favourite during the Europa season. Some of us still have reservations about him at full back when faced with fast, skillful wingers, but he's always said that centre back is his best position, and when he's played there this season he's been as good as Hughes or Senderos. His passing, whether in midfield or at the back, is at least as good as the others if not better.
Nice. Caulker is going back to Spurs at the end of this season, you'd have to think... fancy selling him to us on the cheap?
