Emery took his first Pre Season training session yesterday.

Interesting that soo few of our squad have gone to the World Cup this time.

It means that Aubamayang, Mkhitarian, Lacazette, Ramsey, Sokratis etc.. get a full Pre-Season<ok>

    Talking of tactics.

I was wondering if the rumours are true and we intend to sign both Nzonzi and Torreira another CB and a winger such as Pavon or Martins.

How are we going to shape up?

I think it would mean that Ozil and Ramsey will fight it out for the AMF/No.10 role. Emery typically likes his DM to drop into a CB position and his fullbacks to push up so..

    Without Ball.

    Bell/Lich-----Sokratis------Kos/New------Kol/Mon
    ---------------Nzonzi----------Torreira------------------
    ----Mkhitarian-----Ozil/Ramsey---------Pavon-----
    -----------------------Aubamayang----------------------

I think Ramsey or Ozil may go back on the wing. Looking at Emery's previous teams and formations, those wide players up front are aggressive midfielders. I think we have seen the end of Lacazette and Welbeck etc. playing as wide forwards. I think we are going to see a 5 man midfield pressing, with a lone forward up front. I don't think you are going to see a single traditional DM or #10, it is going to be a very fluid 4/5 man midfield that is going to be homogenous and attack and defend as a unit, rotating as required. The full backs will be far more defensive than under Wenger as well, with the CBs stepping up more.

I have been watching the videos and looking at the pictures from pre season training that are on arsenal.com. In the videos you can hear Emery barking out orders, also in the videos, one of his new assistants was giving some of the players a bit of a hard time (can’t remember what player) because he was doing something wrong during a passing drill. He seems to be a bit of a disciplinarian, will be a shock to the players as wenger was quite laid back.

    He is very much so.

Everybody knows their roles in his sides and he isn't afraid to drop players for underperforming. Going to be a big change<ok>

Saw that too. I think the coach with the face like thunder is his No2, Juan Carlos Carcedo.

He looks like a bunny boiler <laugh>

Didn't see anything on Arsenal.com. I did notice they seemed to be doing a lot of high pressing in training. Probably going to see a lot of that next season. Looked quite intense.

It'll be interesting to see how Ozil adapts to all that high pressing. He is one of our key players but he isn't the most energetic in the field. He could be on his way out if he fails to change to Emerys tune.

I actually think Ozil will do quite well under Emery. Despite the languid style, he does cover a lot of ground and he does press. Coaches tend to like him, even if the fans think he is lazy. He comes from the European background where pressing is common.

Personally I think some of the British players like Ramsey, Welbeck and Iwobi are going to be in far more trouble.
