I don’t think we’ve sat back and gone defensive once this season, not that I can remember anyway. It would be odd to start doing that now, against a fairly average PL opposition that will no doubt field a load of reserves.

I think Everton will have their focus clearly on the league and maintaining their history of mid-table mediocrity.
School of Science. More wizardry than Hogwarts.
Everton have been in the top flight longer than I've been alive, and I was born in 1956.
Dodged relegation some seasons ago by beating Wimbledon 3-2, on the final day, from 2-0 down, then rumours about the Wimbledon goalkeeper were raised, after he literally let three in, allegedly.

Sign a striker and a combative mid fielder.
When do we have to make signings by.Is it lunchtime Friday

1. Don't cut the grass let it get nice and long.
2. Heavily water the pitch. Nice and boggy.
3. Turn off the heating and hot water in the away changing rooms. Also introduce safe standing in there be removing all the benches and clothes hooks.
4. Erm no that's me all out of ideas...

Oh wait maybe give our lads ready break and hope the glow puts the scousers off.

I know some have me down as being negative ... which I sometimes am ... but I really do fear the worst on this one.
If we set up and continue anything like we did on Saturday, we will get absolutely mullered by them.
Bowler tore us a new one. They will have a team full of players as good and better than him. They might not be in the best of form, but they are still a decent established PL side, who managed to beat Arsenal and draw with Chelsea last month.
McCann has to come up with a plan to cope with them, and I have little confidence he will.
3 5 2 probably needs to change to 5 3 2 or even 5 4 1, but do we even have the players available to do that?
I really hope we don't get embarrassed on what should be a big day for the club.

Agree. Can't see why anyone would argue against your concerns.

Will presumably have all the U23s who had previously tested positive back, so it's just the senior outs that could dictate the line up, and how strong/weak we plan to go. I would like to see us go in full strength but who knows. I'd half-hoped we might have signed one or two players in time for the game but think that's a pipe dream.

You've forgot one...

5. Throw any missiles back that are thrown from the designated away area housing the travelling Scouse scourge.

exactly, thats what City need to do, but will they ?
If we sit back & let Everton pass the ball around we will get stuffed big time
Put them on the backfoot right from the start, put some strong tackles in & let them know City are well up for it!!!!!

It's a free hit, should be a good atmosphere. Nowt to lose.

Get at them early. See if they fancy it. Yeah we're not going to have all of the ball and we'll have to soak up pressure but if they're not on it and we are...

... we can do these....!
