Drogs....Didn't Di Matteo start with '2 left backs' in the CL final. Bertrand can play as a left midfielder, so I don't see it that way. I hardly see how having his tactic of playing the pair of them, can be blamed for conceding 2 late goals against Reading though. Surely with '2 left backs' you should be able to defend a 2 goal lead. The Torres situation I agree, but how much is Torres's selection down to Benitez? Yes I know he's the manager, but by all accounts RA wants him to play, and your last manager was reportedly sacked for dropping him. Nobody knows for sure wether this is true other than Benitez and RA, but it really wouldn't suprise me. RA has blown 50 million, plus 200k a week for the next 4 years, so I'm sure he wants to give his investment as many chances as possible to deliver , and prove he was right to spend all that money
Yep, mainly due to everyone else being suspended . Plus RDM was playing against Bayern, not Brentford . Your 2nd part is correct, I blame that on him bringing on Ba instead of JT to tighten up. Cahill was woeful for the first and Le Fondre did brilliantly for 2nd. Disagree re Torres, I think Benitez has picked him purely because he scored the equaliser against Brentford. But I do think any manager that has had Torres has been demanded to play him as much as possible.
Why is there no critiscism of Ross Turnbull Woeful for the QPR goal a few weeks back for coming off his line, gave away the penalty at Brentford and was off his line again for both goals at Reading Cech continually getting injured and we even got rejected from Jack Butland Bring back Courtois, keeping him at Atletico has no future bearing for us as I dont think Falcao wants to join us - - As for tonights performance it was summed up well by a mate of mine, Rafa Benitez take off our best player, the player he rested and cost us against QPR, the player he brought on to save us the game against Brentford and brought on his lovechild, the guy who has spent more time playing on a playstation than on the pitch the last two years and a guy who was sent back early from a loan because he was deemed not good enough to get into West Ham Uniteds team. Its not just that though, its the fact that he feels the best substitutions he can come up with are Bertrand for Hazard, Azpilicueta for Ivanovic, Ba for Torres, Torres for Ba and Terry for Cahill same old same old Rafa doesnt have a clue and I didnt think we could miss a player like Moses so much and Mikel. - - - As for Roman, well he has the devil Emenalo whispering in his ear silly ideas that are only created to line the guy we never heard of before he came to Chelsea's pockets. What a joke this Emenalo is - - Chelsea Till I Die but I may get their quicker watching this years side !!!!!
Completely stunned by your result, tonight. You looked completely in control, then five minutes of utter madness undid you. I'm not Coco's biggest fan, but I can't see how he can be blamed for that capitulation. He set the team up to win that game comfortably, and the players lost the plot towards the end.
The result was diappointing enough, bearing in mind where 3 points would have spaced us between MC and the pack, but the way it happened
I think we did that before the game even started, (can't remember which thread) but yea he had hardly anything to do last night, only a couple of shots came at him and he buggered up both of them. I said before the game everytime a ball comes anywhere near the goal I cringe, he proved me right again. He is ****e.
I agree with the fact that why as supporters can we see what Benitez should have done, yep he can't, and he's supposed to be the expert. Torres should have come off at least at the half way mark he was again useless. And at 2-0 up at that point 10 minutes before the game ends you defend to the hilt !! I'm really pissed off this morning . Was hoping to wake up to headlines saying Benitez had been sacked. Then he can take his blue eyed boy with him as he goes out the door.
Turnball doesn't make many obvious mistakes as such but he doesn't make the top saves that the best keepers do. It is inevitable that we will concede more whilst Cech is out and Courtois has to come in the summer. I think Cech would have done better for the second goal last night. But can we keep blaming Rafa. Oscar should have scored and at 3-0 there is no way back, where was the Defence for the second? So much space for such a crucial stage of play. A bit like England, when season in season out we keep going on these bad runs and losing/drawing silly games then surely the players have to take more responsibility.
To be honest, I think we were more concerned with getting to 3-0 than losing the lead. Reading looked blunt and offered nothing and then basically had 2 half chances late on and scored them both. Gutting especially as the 2nd left us no time to do anything about it. Unprofessional? Yes but i bet the players can't believe what went wrong.
