I'm trying to be objective, Swords, but I'd be much more sympathetic to the ACON if it wasn't held so often! Even every two years is twice that of the Euro's. If Adel is going to be castigated by his country for not going, well, I might relent, but surely Harry has taken this into account when he asked him to stay and fight for his club? I may be missing something, but I don't think it frees up space in the squad if he goes. He will still be one of the 25 in the last half of the season, won't he?
Not if I had my way . The 25 are renamed every January. I'm not kidding here, but with the way Harry castigated him (indirectly but he was talking about him) in the last two games, I wouldn't be surprised if he moved him out for one of his own in Jan.
If Adel ends up at Man Utd then I'll eat my own weight in dog s**t. They were watching him in the promotion season, then last year and now this, well that's what the papers keep saying. It's nonsense - Adel is in no way good enough for Utd, nor will he ever be. Having said that I would prefer him to stay, but chances are by Xmas we'll be dead and buried so it won't make any sense hm missing an extremely important international tournament.
It's a possibility. Certainly, Harry won't take Adel's deaf ears to his request not to go to ACON, lightly...
You are 100% correct, but that is mostly the fault of the Organisers who tend to place high tkt prices on the games where even they know it won't sell out, its all about making money to recoup the investment on new stadia that they build for the tournament. This year maybe different as it is being held in South Africa who will be using the stadiums from 2010 world cup. The other thing to remember is alot of the African countries simply don't have the finances for huge number of fans to travel across the vast contienent to follow the games. You may think its a joke of a tournamanet and that is your op, but trust me its where most of the African players who play accross europe get spotted.
I like Adel, think he's one of our most dangerous attacking players. And though I would pretty much pick him every week, how much has he improved over the last few seasons? True, he is now tracking back etc, but he continually makes the same errors, lingering on the ball, shooting from ridiculous angles/distances when a pass would be more appropriate, trying a fancy finish (like vs. Stoke) when power is required; basically, the list's endless. If I can notice these things, then I'm sure AF and his scouting team can pick further holes in his game. Adel is no longer a young player, not in footballing terms, and though he's got a good few years left, I don't see him reaching the pinnacle of the game. He could be a good solid pro at PL level, like, perhaps, a Gera or Odemwinge (sic); but he's not, IMO, a top, top player.
I am a big fan of Taarabt's and whereas during the promotion season I felt he was destined for great things I am coming around to the same opinion as expressed here.
Sit boy! ... in your basket ... 6 and half stone is a lot of ****. Taarabt haters simply have no concept of the modern game iMO. His overall game may not all be there however SAF rates him very highly. This player has vision something you can't train or coach plus without doubt the best ball control in the division now ... Have a go at name players better than him? I will help ... Arsenal ... Cazole Aston Villa N/a Chelsea Oscar, Hazard ,Mata Everton Afro bloke Fulfam Beravtof ...you do the rest on single flair players from each team You may see my point. Taarabt coached at a big club? Where can he go? ... yep to very top. I hope he stays as well but to think that people aren't watching this talent is plain stupidity. He has always a star waiting to happen and whatmore you only have to look at what most other players say about him ... About time a few got behind our best talent for years
Yeah, right mate. Muppet. Try reading some of my other posts, including that on this thread and those relating to the Wigan game, which I attended. Let me spell it out for you: there is a huge difference between a play-maker dominating teams in the NPC and doing it in PL. So what if AF was impressed by his performance against him, sure he's been complimentary about a number of players/teams over the years - don't mean he's bought all of them.
How much more coaching does he really need? Passing the ball in critical situations comes from learning from your own mistakes and experiences - something Adel seems loathe to do.
Very very good post there Husky. If you see it, I see it and a load of others see it then why can't the likes of COL see it too?
You are so right on this. I hope it won't happen but I will not be at all surprised if Adel is off to Manure, Arsenal or some other big Club soon. He is brilliant as you say and a Club like that would improve him more than we have been doing the last couple of years, though maybe Harry and Co can do more.
The same Harry that got rid of him first chance he got at Spurs? I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you mate.
