The way I see the statement is * Tarbs sale has broken down *There is no prospective buyer for the club on the immediate horizon * The Goons realise they have to batten down the hatches and keep the club for the time being * They have given Warnock an official warning for disclosing confidential discussions (could form basis for dismissal later) * The Goons also realise that in a few weeks time, they will have to face fans' wrath at the incompetent and arrogant handling of the club since the Mittals were kicked off the Board, and the Goons are genuinely concerned about there personal unpopularity (and the possible implications from some hot heads - don't forget Flavio comes from the land of the "Ultras") . So now they come out to try to justify their actions, tell us how well they've done and, oh yes, contrary to what NW told the press, had Taraabt been sold, the Goons would have reinvested the monies in the team (yeah, right).
@Smudge1962 Paul Smith I like the way as a result of no offers for Taarabt Dastardly and Muttley try to claim they won't sell him. What they meant is they can't
Agree with this. That statement (which I also thought was a wind-up, at first) comes across as really defensive. They mean to remind us all of how they're God's gift to the club. Arrogant, self-satisfied pr**ks. Can't wait to hear Neil when he next speaks to the press...
Great news just read on the offish, sounds like they gave Warnock a bollocking about speaking in the press about the owners. Hard to believe Warnocks top two transfer targets were Dyer and Bothroyd though.
Dave McIntyre/West London Sport QPRQPR and PSG fail to agree Taarabt deal Adel Taarabt is staying at QPR, the club have announced. A statement was issued on behalf of owners Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore after Rangers failed to agree a deal with French club Paris St Germain for the 22-year-old. The statement also confirmed that Wales defender Danny Gabbidon, who has been on trial with the R’s, will be offered a contract. “We are pleased to confirm that Adel Taarabt will be staying at QPR this summer,” the statement read. “Despite receiving a substantial bid for our Moroccan international, we rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets. “We are aware of some issues that have been raised in the press by the coach.” “Should we have decided to sell Taarabt this summer, we made it clear to Neil Warnock that we would reinvest funds into the squad. “Taarabt is fully committed to the club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star-quality for QPR in the Premier League. “Our decision not to sell him only serves to reiterate the ambition and commitment we have both shown to QPR since we arrived here.” Taarabt has made no secret of his desire to move to a top club, but no Premier League managers have so far shown any interest. Cash-rich PSG did make an approach soon after the end of last season, but their initial valuation was well short of Rangers’. By the start of this week it seemed the two clubs were close to thrashing out a deal, but talks have since ended abruptly. Manager Warnock, referred to as “the coach” in the statement, recently angered his bosses by publicly hinting at his frustration at missing out on some of his transfer targets. Warnock was warned after hinting at his frustration. He was given a warning, and has since been reluctant to comment on goings-on at Loftus Road. This was alluded to in the owners’ statement, which added: “We have backed Neil Warnock in bringing in his two top targets, Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer, and we are working hard to try and pursue a couple of other targets the coach has identified. “Danny Gabbidon has impressed the coach whilst on trial and we are aiming to add him, as well as at least one or two other players to our squad in the near future. “Neil Warnock is our coach and we are working closely with him in a professional and confidential manner to try to achieve our aims and objectives. “The coach’s job is to coach the squad and identify players he believes will improve the squad. As a board, we deal with all the negotiations and we have been successful in completing deals for Bothroyd and Dyer so far. “We are aware of some issues that have been raised in the press by the coach, but we have discussed these with him internally and he has agreed to be more reserved in terms of what he discusses in the future.”
This is very, very good news. It will be hard for the terrible twosome to sell Adel before January now they have made that statement. And if he goes in January...well I think most of us thought that was very likely anyway!! I suspect he's been offered quite a pay-rise!! It looks like the board have reacted to all the bad vibes coming from forums, phone ins etc. Now, whilst I would still like to see the back of Flav and Bern, the fact that they have publicly declared their wish to keep us in the Premier League can only make it more difficult for them not to do just that. I see no point in just continuing to be negative about anything Flav and Bern do or say! This is great news and we certainly need Adel to have any chance of staying up imo. I've now started to look forward to August 13th all over again!! URRRRRrrrrssssss!!
Praise the lord we have the drunken embarassment of Delia and not Eccleston, who seems to have a problem with spouting absolute fodder!
Well, Well, Well. Don't the twist and turns keep on and on and on! To be honest, I think it's great news to hear that Tarrabt is staying on for the first half of the season. It's his chance to prove his ability at the top level if he wants that big move. Those tantrums will be out there for all the world to see now, as he stands on the Premier League stage and has to prove not only the natural abilities, that we all know he has, but also to show he has grown up as a man and matured as a team player! Can Adel do it? I have absolutely no idea - not a bean! But I do know that last season, he made my QPR heart beat a little faster as he attacked opponent defences and goalmouths. I hope that he can do the same again this season, and contribute to team points that will enable us to extend our stay in the division. Now let's see us go out and get some speedy full backs to support pushing that ball upfield Come on u RRRRRssssssss
I think the reason this didn't go through is Taarabt met Emmett Brown and Marty McFly, they took him to December 31st 2011, to see what it would be like if he stayed with QPR in England. It turns out that NW buys everyone a lottery ticket for Christmas, and Taarabt wins the Christmas jackpot of all Bernie and Flav's money. Then they take Taarabt to December 31st 2011, to show him what it would be like if he went to France, and he chokes on a baguette. His girlfriend isn't around to give him the kiss of life, so the manager tries, and fails. So Taarabt's last kiss ever was from a French man. He didn't take long to decide.
I think either negotiations broke down over the transfer and they've put a not of spin on it or they've been told not to sell by a potential buyer or a sale of the club is a long way off and they're settling in for the season. Can't believe Warnock arrived back off holiday and said "The most important thing for the club is getting Dyer!" even if he does do well.
These guys are absolute clowns. The statement is cringeworthy and totally patronising to us fans. The sooner these gobshites sell up and move on the better. Have to agree with an earlier post, when I read it first I thought that the site was hacked and it was a pisstake. Anyhow, delighted if Taarabt will kick-off the season with us. How will Warnock feel about such a public put-down?
