Dont know the paraneters to this forum but you are way out of line. Just because I mention the toon I am now a skunk? Pathetic. If you knew me you would know how insulting that is. I have read you a lot rawhite an whilst i have not commented before you are always quick to criticise anyone who doesn't tow your party line. What exactly is wrong with my idea? Lower prices, bigger crowds? Lets go head to head with regards to loyallty to MY team SAFC.

I have only missed a handful of home games sine I started going to games on a regular basis in about 1970. during that time I have had periods when I was on the bones of my backside regarding money, but I sacrificed all that I could so I could still attend games...The fact is that fans going to games is still a huge part of the clubs income, and in my opinion the club gives good value for money...One thing I would say is that children and pensioners should have their discount for all areas of the ground and not just the corners...As for Newcastle, I do believe that their prices are more expensive than Sunderland's on the whole.

Well Mr White I do envy you. but I would disagree (altho i dont have any proof) re: income from footfall. By the way, I may come over as an old fogie I am not! Yes I saw Shackleton play, but it was in a 5-a-side at Monty's testimonial! Love the club. They are mine. Please don't accuse me of being a skunk ever again; otherwise we will fall out!

Cheaper seats. More bums on them. Seemples.

Thort you could get adults for a tenner and skids for free?

I KNOW most schools in the Sunlun area get at least 10 free tickets per game so maybe the old boy could save his giro n gan with the bairns every now n then?
Next he'll be blaming the recession for the masses of empty seats. I take it the plans he had for the extra tier have been put on hold???

    Bonny,

however, we are getting off the point.

If you listen to what Quinn actually said (just do a search on the BBC site and you can hear him interviewed) he makes it as clear as clear can be that he isn't criticising anyone who can't afford to go to the games (FFS we all know we're in the worst recession since the 30s).

He's having a go at those who COULD go to the game - but don't, and instead spend more than the price of a ticket in the pub.

What's wrong with what he ACTUALLY said then?

I totally disagree that " if he wants to go, time he did".

    Ho! ho! Ho!

A fan of a club run by Ashley & Pardew calls us a Mickey Mouse club!!!

There are empty seats at Sid James as well you daft get and pubs in Newcastle showing your shower of ****e at 3pm when you play at home.

Quinn is speaking up about a problem in his usual honest & frank way, unlike Ashley who is at this minute betting away the Carroll money in the casino of his choice.

Did you see John Hughes' only game? I did. Sick of sanctimonious fools like you accusing true fans of being wums

I saw that game although I can't remember much about it except that JH was injured quite early on and taken off.

If you read his comments, he was talking to those fans who can afford to go, but choose not to and go to the pub. You, sir, are a clown. Jog on.

Guys, there is alot of dirt being thrown to and fro here. I agree that Quinn was referring to the people that COULD afford to go to the game but choose (as is there right) to stay in the pub. But at the same time I'm sure he has to understand the general feeling that although the country is going through hard times we still see creedy players flaunting their wealth and demanding extortionate wages for their limited ability and questionable loyality to anything other than the green back. I know to make the step up this is something we will have to live with but what I would like to see is the club upping it's profile across the country in shops/sports stores everywhere. I find it extremely difficult to get any Sunderland merchandise other than online.

I tjhink what Niall is saying is that in a couple of years the FIFA regs will only allow the club's income to be spent on players, the less people that turn up, the less income through TV & advertising etc, the less quality players, I to can remember the good old days of hope & failure, the days of promotion & relegation, so far this season I personally have'nt had to worry about relegation & that makes a pleasant change, that was change that come about by spending big sums of money on players, if the club's income drops then the quality drops, then the turmnout drops, then the TV rights & everything else, it would be a viscious circle, that's what our leader was saying in my opinion, something to thinkabout

Ticket prices at Sunderland - especially for youngsters - are among the cheapest in the Premiership. The following makes interesting reading. Does anyone know if there is a league table of season ticket prices? This is from a QPR forum where they are wondering what they might have to pay If they come up....

"Emirates will have the priciest 'ordinary' ticket in English football
A £100 ticket would make watching Arsenal 11 times more expensive than following Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. The German team charge just £9 for their cheapest seat.

'Prices have risen way beyond the rate of inflation, and the bigger clubs have gone the furthest over the last decade,' added Clarke.

The most expensive normal seats at the Emirates Stadium - in the centre of the upper tier for 'category A' games against popular opponents - are £94 per person, plus a booking fee of up to £2.30 and £2.20 postage.

That makes £98.50 for a typical purchase. But, with VAT rising from 17.5 per cent to 20 per cent, that ticket would break the £100 barrier for the first time.

No club can afford to charge such prices throughout their grounds and stay busy, and Arsenal have a wide range of prices, from £48 to £94 for 'Category A' games against top opposition such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.

It costs from £33 to £66 for Premier League games against lesser sides but the bill for a family of four could still top their weekly food shopping bill.

Arsenal, who are repaying the debt from building the £390million stadium, are already the most expensive club to watch on their own ground in Britain by some margin, and a recession is not perhaps the ideal time to be breaking the £100 barrier.

Season ticket-holder and author Tom Watt said: 'It does seem an extraordinary amount of money.
'If somebody can afford to pay that fair play to them but, while people complain about a lot of things at Arsenal, value for money is not one of them.'

Arsenal's cheapest adult season ticket for 2010-11 cost £893, while their most expensive 'ordinary' season ticket, which has no hospitality, was £1,825. Liverpool were the next most expensive for 2010-11 at £680, followed by Tottenham (£650), West Ham (£585) and Chelsea (£550).

Blackburn had the cheapest adult season ticket at £224 - just over twice the cost of a single highend ticket at the Emirates.

The club with the next most expensive single ticket price in England is Tottenham, where the most expensive 'normal' seat is £76 per game, which will increase to £78 when VAT rises in January, according to Spurs' official website.

The most expensive ordinary seat at Chelsea costs £73, and at Manchester United just £49.

Also a ticket in the East stand opposite the tunnel (ie. a good seat) will cost £28 for the West Brom game , according to the club website.

Can I take this opportunity to apologise to anyone who I have offended with this article.

I DONT want Niall to go. I was just in one of those moods.

Thank you for debate. (I still think a reduction in prices will increase gates. It doesn't matter that we aren't expensive now).

    A question lads.

Are there any 'bad seats' in the SOL?

I've only ever sat in my seat, and for 2 cup games next to a pal of mine, 15 seats away from me!

Anyone been in the extension? Can you see?

    What's the corners like?

I should know, but i just don't, as i've only ever been in the North Stand!

The seat next to mine was always pretty poor for the occupant. I would try to head and kick every ball!

    Never got a touch yet!

    Ha,

I meant the view like, the seat next to mine is awful for those who object to 'industrial language'.

I think those around me have become immune to it like, they just laugh at me getting all wound up cos a throw in went the wrong way.

I'll probably have a heart attack and die at the SOL..
