India win the final by 8 wickets. SA cruising with 4 overs to go but a combination of fantastic bowling by Bumrah, astonishing fielding and another SA choke swung it India's way.

So at least we went out to the winners I suppose, but that should not excuse a pretty underwhelming tournament when faced with anyone decent, West Indies aside.

s.a. needed 30 off the last 5 overs, which looked doable, especially as they'd taken 24 off the 15th, but a total of just 14 off overs 16-19 was superbly tight from india, and the 16 off the final was far too much.

on another topic, in the current women's test match (also) between india and south africa, india scored 525 on the first day, from 98 overs, and for 4 wickets. this is the most runs scored in a day in a test match.

james anderson has taken 7 for 35 against notts.today. notts got 126 and the last pair added 42.

yorkshire have won by an innings for the second game in a row. this time against derbyshire by an innings and 204 runs in under 3 days. ben coad took 6 for 30 in derbyshire's 2nd innings and vishwan fernando had match figures of 9 for 88 (coad's was 7 for 39)..

there's an interesting match ending brewing in the county championshop second division.

glamorgan and gloucestershire are playing.

gloucestershire scored 179. glamorgan replied with 197 for a small first innings lead.

then conditions changed, by the look of things.

gloucestershire scored 610/5 declared, with a double century, a big hundred, a third hundred, and a half century. weirdly, three batsman didn't make double figures, and two of those didn't bother scoring at all.

the declaration left glamorgan to score 593 in something like four and a half sessions, or a day and a half.

joe root's brother billy fell just short of a half century.
marnus labuschagne made 119.
sam northeast, with a 400 and a 300 to his credit in the last few seasons, is 138no and the score is 432/5.

they need 161 more to win.

there is enough time.

the record for a successful run chase in all first-class cricket ever is 541/7.

Ended in a tie. Wicket on the last ball of the match. Amazing.
