Hope we lose and Hodgson gets sacked. Won't happen though (the latter bit) I think we will lose, play poorly and Hodgson will be heralded by the FA.
Yep i'm hoping for a swiss win tonight, unfortunatly it won't change anything, even pompy could qualify from this group.
I'm not entirely sure what Hodgeson is supposed to do with this England team. He has made some strange selection choices, but I can't think of an England manager that hasn't? There's a lack of talent available, but even more problematic, a lack of desire and passion to play for England. If he were to get the sack, who would the FA appoint? Who would even accept the job?
The problem i have is, that from what i can see hodgson picks 11 players and says do what you like, there is no game plan or system its just 11 so called footballers winging it.
It may look like that but I'm pretty sure it isn't the case. Hodgeson's management career is fairly impressive, I mean he did take Fulham to a European final. He didn't suddenly become a bad manager over night. England have always been crap, and the manager isn't the common denominator.
Perhaps it is the style of play that we have in the England PL that is the problem. I have always associated England in the past with tough, fast paced play...a bit kick and rush if you like. We don't play like that now...probably because of the foreigners in the PL...and we have lost our way. Our players aren't usually the best players in their own team, so get a bit lost when the better players aren't there to mop up. Just an idea.
If you were to consider how much a club would be prepared to spend on Scotland`s players, compared to England`s, then England are better in every position. I don`t know why England underperform persistently - I conclude that is down to the organisational and motivational skills of the manager. WGS is screwing everything out of a generally talent-wise mediocre bunch.
Considered a doubt according to the BBC. However, mustn't mock too much as we haven't got our little preciouses back yet.
I don't think you can point the finger at Hodgson. He actually had the balls to pick on merit for the World Cup with one eye on the future and deserves massive credit for doing so. What England lack (and have done for as long as I can remember) is a genuine world class player or two. Of those that the media would have you believe are or were, Rooney most certainly is not, Lampard and Gerrard were not and despite his obvious talent, Beckham wasn't really a game changer either. You probably have to go back to Gazza and of course the disgracefully overlooked MLT for our last talismanic players. You won't win anything with a team of average Joes. Unless you are Greece......
Maybe you're right but using the "Form is temporary, class is permanent" argument, Owen was a world class substitute.
Nah, we were crap when the players were the best in there club team, e.g. Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Rooney etc. The supposed golden generation that was going to win us the world cup or something.
