Id like to see the voting system complicated to an extent.
Rather than simply voting for a favourite. FIFA would have to rank bidding nations on certain criteria.

Whoever finishes top on the scorecard wins and of course all votes are made public

Like is said then, similar to Eurovision as that's done on a ranking system, or is it just rank. I can't remember.

If these allegations are true and the Qatar's are using slave labour and working conditions are so unsafe then the new FIFA regime should at least threaten to pull the World Cup unless conditions are vastly improved

I don't blame FIFA for this. They don't build the stadium, but they do have the power to force positive change

I'd add a dot dot dot to this...

... And if they don't use that power to force positive change, then I would blame them.

It's not allegations. They are using migrant workers who are currently dying at a rate of just under 12 a week. If the players don't boycott that World Cup then the very least we can do is not watch it, listen to it, or partake in anything involving it.

It's because of these deaths, I posted, earlier in this thread, the question about whether or not FIFA could be culpable of manslaughter, as a result of first selecting Qatar, and then allowing the deaths to continue to grow, without appearing to do anything about it.

I'm no lawyer, but other than a moral duty. I see no law being broken.
If they were not building football stadiums, then the Qatari government would of commissioned other construction projects which would be taking place under the same poor working conditions.

The only difference with a World Cup is that the media are interested.

The migrant workers are told that they we will earn good money when they reach Qatar, and sign contracts stating so etc. But as soon as they reach Qatar, their passports are confiscated, meaning they can't leave, and they are only paid a fraction of the promised wage. Literally peanuts so I'm told (I have a friend in Doha who has spoken first hand to some migrants). They are forced to live in huge slums next to the stadiums, food and water is rationed etc. The reason no other country is taking them on directly is because Qatar has oil.

With Nepal devastated that line of migrant workers is only going to get longer
It's awful that this level of exploitation continues. I often wonder where the UN is when things like this continue

You are probably correct, but a new, improved FIFA, would hopefully remember what is happening, in Qatar, and build a cancellation into future contracts, with countries that need to go to build so many stadiums, that show no regard for workers safety.
What is happening is unacceptable and even if the World Cup does go there, it is my belief that more humane nations, should withdraw, on principle.

Apparently he didn't quit but was asked to step down, after making a joke to an interviewer of the current FIFA situation. It went something like this:
Q: The Fifa President, the Secretary General and Communications Director are all travelling in a car. Who's driving.? A: The Police.!

Crap joke, but dynamite stuff in view of the situation.
