Report suggests that Argyle's management were pleased how the team played.

Swindon made six changes from Saturday and had to also change their goalkeeper who got injured in the warm-up,bringing on a youngster to take his place.

Should management be happy with another defeat so easily.......that's 6 league and now 2 cup defeats in thirteen games....it's getting too regular.
 
Sounded like Swindon deserved the win but only just...
Pity we kept losing the commentary as there was only one plug in the commentary box for all there..
Like Argyle they just don't have enough power..lol
 
In my view the priorities should be.

1).....not to lose.

2).....to win anyway possible.

3).....to win playing attractive football.


Ways not to play.

1)..... to lose but playing attractive football......pointless.

2).....to give soft goals away because of concentration slipping.

3).....to not be able to run the clock down to ptotect what you have got.


What I don't want to hear.

1).....Management saying that the lads played well and that they didn't deserve to lose......not good enough personally.

2).....To be the most attractive team in the Conference next season.....that would be total failure..... and a change of management required.
 
I'm afraid what managers say is neither here nor there, most of it is PR drivel for the Press. Whether it's "they worked their socks off and deserved more" or "they trained well all week but didn't do it on the day" or anything else, results are what count.

The Football League (Super) Cup is so trivial as not to merit a report by the BBC and draw only a post match comment from the Argyle Assistant Manager, although perhaps he's been send out as a human shield for Sheridan.

I saw the Swindon V Chelsea game recently and (manager's hat on) "Swindon were unlucky not to get something from the game, they got done by that extra bit of class in the final third" (manager's hat off). Nevertheless, we can't go on losing in our own League though.
 
Bigger picture people, remember the bigger picture. It's another loss in another professional match by Argyle in a long running continuing saga of repetitive losses, bottom of league dwelling and being dumped out of cup competitions.

6 seasons of rot, 6 seasons of relegation scraps, 6 seasons of losing regularly, 6 seasons of hardly ever scoring, 6 seasons of poor quality football.
 
Gary Owers said there were positives to be gained from last nights defeat......the only positive I want to see each game is 3 POINTS each time we play, stop the flannel please.

But the Rot has to stop some were, no idea how it will .. but here is hoping..

It seems we are getting worse not better..
 
Not sure anyone should be too upset about last night- Swindon are currently a decent team a class above us (literally)

Saturday is massive for me, despite being the 'biggest' club in the league they are a struggling side with no budget- trust me I have to work with several 'Pompey' fans so it is a much bigger match than last Saturday..

Interestingly I look forward to the game and whilst I see them as our main and historical rivals I don't feel any animosity towards them unlike the morons up the road- must be the matelot in me.

Hopefully it will be a good game, the right result and no trouble caused by anyone.
 
It's time for the bull to end. Agree with notdistant though that all managers come out with that sort of clap trap. It just rolls off the tongue and they think it's all they have to say. The day one of them actually says something real will be the day miracles happen.

I think Saturday is massive. One more loss and it is going to look like this season will be the one to see us drop which has been on the cards for a couple of years now. Sounds dramatic I know but think this is a defining moment. Going to be a hard match and I'm determined to go. Not sure it will be good for the old ticker but who cares.

Lindy........ the JP Trophy rules state no team should have six or more players changed from their previous league match.....Swindon broke that rule......although they are hoping to not fall foul of that rule because they made a change of goalkeeper during the warm-up.....because their keeper was taken ill.

So Swindon where under strength compared from their normal league turn-out.

So Owers being pleased with the performance loses a bit of gloss as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with this. The good thing for fans sanity however in situations like this is that we're in a bit of a win-win situation. If Argyle lose then it's no longer just an isolated bad day out. Lose the game and it's almost certainly going to provoke some kind of major change which practically everyone now sees is necessary / inevitable.

Sometimes you have to be defeated to become stronger. In the words of Obi Wan Kenobi "You can't win Darth, if you strike me down then I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine".

Argyle almost have to lose this game in order to address the problem which is teetering on the edge of being acted upon.
 
However, bad news for fans is that even if JS is sacked it won't address the true root cause of the problem which is the general malaise of mediocrity that permeates every fibre of the club. Until this cancer is eradicated, then changing managers will achieve nothing.

Personally, I do believe however that JS has to go regardless because as a starting point we need someone in who is more upbeat and engages with the fans as well as the players and the staff. This is a club on critical life support, badly damaged and traumatised through years of misery. We need someone in with character who first and foremost can lift the mood and expell the malaise.
 
It might work for Obi Wan Kenobe.. DS.. but........with Argyle having been losing for six years the signs are not quite so obvious....we should be by know ten times stronger than Bayern Munich and Barcelona rolled together........but it aint so.
