This is an Oxford fan blog but well worth a read, could easily be describing us.

Evans actually had the guts to turn John Akinde down earlier in the week despite wanting silly money. Goes to show Scally's even offered to back Evans but Steve has had the guts to not go above the pay structure just to sign one player. The wages that have been quoted on twitter by a reliable source suggest Akinde was demanding £7,000 per week which in my opinion is ridiculous money for League One level.
Fair play to Steve for not breaking the bank with this one.

I did hear a while ago we were paying £6k a week when we had JET on loan which effectively crippled us for the following 18 months. Scally was willing to give the green light on this one but when that means Akinde would be earning about double and a bit more than our highest earners, it's not surprising Evans turned it down.£7k ! - I'd want blood for that, jeez these players really are taking the p these days.
