You never see a bookie on a bike, my nan used to say. Having seen many of them leaving racecourses in Range Rovers, I can confirm that this is true.
Nervous already. Might go to the pub and watch this. McCarthy Cedric Stephens Bed hoedt Bert Romeu hojberg Redmond tadic Austin Go for it from the off COYR!
My guess is that Redmond won’t start. There is, as discussed elsewhere, an opportunity to exploit a tiring defence by bringing him and Long on at 60 - 70 minutes. McCarthy Cedric Stephens Bednarek Hoedt Bertrand Højbjerg Romeu JWP Tadic Austin This is assuming Lemina isn’t fit. If he is, swap him for Højbjerg. I can imagine us getting quite a few set pieces so JWP is a must. Substitute Long for JWP, Redmond for Tadic, and either Sims or McQueen for JWP for the last 10 minutes depending whether we need a goal or need to defend a lead.
Definitely a pub game! I always find it less nervous surrounded by fellow saints as they share your pain/elation. At home its all too much!
A few seasons ago a mate of mine put money on us to beat an already relegated and generally ****e all season Leicester 4-0 Within 15 mins we were 2-0 down Can't remember the result, I was laughing too much
Annoyingly I was not going to drink until my holiday on 23rd May as low carbing and doing the 5:2 at the same time as there is a possibility I will get harpooned on the beach by a Japanese whaler at the moment, but after doing yesterday and today, I feel I can slip off the wagon for a night
I think Dusan should play 90mins every game ... punching myself in the face for saying it, but I won't stop
Is this an instruction to us fans, or to the players? I used to play rugby (at the lowest level possible), and 'no drinking before the match' was an instruction, more a plea, to the players. It didn't make any difference, as the players drank anyway, on the principle that if we're going to lose, we might as well enjoy ourselves. On this basis, if we can get the Swansea players to start celebrating early, we'll be in with a good chance
I disagree. Play Redmond instead of JWP. He played well against Everton. If the game is dragging on and we haven’t scored. We can bring on Long, Gabbi, JWP, Simms. 1-1-8 (Eight players up front.. & then start launching balls into the box.)
I'd have Redmond as sub. Keep it tight, maybe get a goal, but rather than sit back, then have Redmond running at their tired legs. Or, as a goal down, he is a good option. Starting him risks what we have witnessed many times. Just doesn't get into the game & get taken off when we need someone like him on the pitch. He is a better impact player.
Here's a 'Cat amongst the pigeons' conspiracy theory: Maybe Bertrand knew exactly what he was doing, when he 'inadvertently' passed the ball straight to an Everton player, as he wants to leave Saints, so he is hoping that we go down, then he can (in his eyes) justifiably put in a transfer request, away from a Championship team. I can't imagine that he would be that self-serving/unprofessional, but it would give him a reason to leave. maybe.
