He’s massively missed Crooks. A fit Crooks provided the energy that Amir doesn’t. Slater has energy in spades but IMO his strengths fall when he plays deeper. Can’t really comment on Gyabi yet but some Plymouth fans I’ve seen suggest he’s better further forward. The balance of the midfield is all off and was by and large why we couldn’t get a foothold for large swathes today. Galbraith and Yalcouye had energy in spades and quality to boot. Granted they couldn’t break us down so I’ll take it. They need to go back to having a 3 in midfield and starting Joffy out wide in my opinion. He can come more centrally in attack but the balance of the midfield just doesn’t seem to work with Joffy in midfield.
Certainly deserved the point, and we created more chance than they did, and Pandur didn't have that much to do, other than pick the ball out of the net twice. First half, even though they had a lot of possession, up until they scored I thought we had kept them at arms length pretty well. Hughes needed to get tighter to Vipotnik, as he just had too much space to turn. Nevertheless, great reaction to a few minutes later, McBurnie to get the equaliser. Super cross from Giles, and a typical striker's finish by McBurnie. 2nd half we started really well, we pressed them much better higher up the pitch and looked the better side, only to be caught out on the counter. Hughes again was at fault, was too deep and played Ronaldo on side. But we kept going, credit to the boys for not giving up and got their just deserts with the goal. Apart from Hughes, who was not at his best, the back 4 looked better defensively. Midfield is still not quite right, though Amir for his first start was steady. I feel him and Lundstram are quite similar, and whether Darko might complement Lundstram better, but I guess early days. Crook's will be a plus when he is back, though. McBurnie was very good again, and when Ndala and Belloumi came on we looked even more threatening going forward. All in all a well deserved point, and a point away, particularly at Swansea not to be sniffed at.
I think we will look a whole lot better defensively with Ajayi back... question is, for how long.. Hughes looks better alongside him IMO...
I have just realised, my only contribution to this thread, so far, is to like a post referencing Pornhub. Is this something I should be concerned about?
We now have both a centre half and a centre forward that can score goals. An absolute embarrassment of riches for us.
I don't know anyone else but I felt quite unsettled for much of the first half. It just had shades of the recent struggles - struggling to get hold of the ball, pass the ball, or retain it. At this point I was already thinking about our bench, and the quality we had on there. This alone gives me plenty of hope for the season. We are still lacking in key areas, as most other teams in this League will be too. Another thing that gives me hope is the fact that after a few dodgy first half performances this season, Serg seems to have the ability to make the right adjustments in the second half, and with a decent bench at his disposal, this could make a lot of difference to our season. Admittedly, I did miss a reasonable chunk of the match, starting with our first goal, as the dog had just climbed onto the new sofa with long strands of ****ty grass hanging out of its arse, resulting in a clean-up job that stretched well into the second half! My 11 year old's face was a picture when I dragged a long, thick clump out. It was like one of those magic tricks where the handkerchiefs never end.
Or a wife and girlfriend, then no need for the hub, you’ll have absolutely no ****ing energy left to set up pointless anything……
