Let’s be honest, McLoughlin surely can’t do any worse than Figgy, any amount of positive difference would be a bonus. And whilst I’m on it, if Shota is staying on for the time being, get Rosey in to help him, no brainer, his Nanna is from ‘Ull.

Edit, Rosey’s nanna would probably be more effective than Figgy.

Defence last year wasn't too shabby, only one thing has changed (Figgy) and I think we need to see if reversing that change sorts the problem out. I doubt that it's as simple as that but it's a start.

Part of me thinks some of these new players know they’ll play regardless.

Good point, will be interesting how we line up against Luton with more back. Figureido needs dropping 100% but aside from that it’s all up in the air.

Yep, it's not the trendy thing to say but McLoughlin is a limited player and that's why he isn't playing any more. Figuereido has been very poor recently and may well need dropping, but McLoughlin made similar mistakes last season, including the last time we played Luton at home. He's a decent defender in a certain role, but if we're pinning our hopes on him coming in to shore everything up then I think we'll be disappointed.

I wonder if playing McLoughlin, despite his limitations, might make Greaves feel a bit more confident in his game. He hasn't been the same this season as he was last.

Figuereido hasn't been poor recently ,he's been poor since he arrived. Mcloughlin is young player learning his trade. He made mistakes last season, but he isn't getting gradually worse like Figuereido.

McLoughlin is not as ponderous and immobile as Figs do he has a bit of urgency on his side at least ! That’s gotta be better

I remember a few on here going on about Mac’s poor passing, his cross field punts that mostly went into touch or the opposition….

McLoughlin is much better for Shota’s style. He made mistakes because he took risks, Figureido makes mistakes doing simple things.

They've made the exact same sort of mistakes. McLoughlin is just en vogue at the moment because he's not playing.

Figureido just needs taking out of the firing line for awhile, even the best players in the world make crazy mistakes in games

Think you need to rewatch his mistakes. McLoughlin is our best ball playing centre back and with midfielders who offer deep he’s miles better suited to us then Figureido

Why have a squad if you aren't going to drop players when they're performing badly ?

McLoughlin could hardly be worse and we won't know until we give him a chance
