91% Pass Success, 1 Goal: Swansea’s Rock Excels Again To Sink Sorry Fulham Jonjo Shelvey stats Fulham crumbled to yet another disappointing defeat as they helped Swansea end their own poor run. The hosts can count a severe element of fortune as a contributing factor with both goals taking heavy deflections but it was no less than Swansea deserved. The visitors looked lethargic and tired, an ominous sign given the task ahead of them. Key Stats The hosts had just one shot but they had three more on target indicating a greater proficiency with their shooting. Fulham had more corners than the Swans and they had more blocked shots but it wasn’t enough with Swansea dominating both possession and the passing figures, rather unsurprisingly. Michael Laudrup’s men finished with an 88% pass completion rate (compared to 79%) and 57% of the possession. Man of the Match Only one man was ever in contention for this award. With a performance score of 93 Chico Flores had just two points fewer than his two nearest challengers combined. Like so many of his team-mates Chico’s performances have come under fire but tonight he was brilliant. Ignoring the goal he was a rock at the back making seven interceptions and seven clearances, heroic stuff indeed. He also weighed in with two tackles and finished with a passing accuracy of 91%, a herculean effort from the Spanish centre-back. Performance Score The two sides started fairly evenly but after ten minutes Swansea took the lead with their score of 34 beating Fulham’s 16. This trait continued till the 35 minute mark when the Londoners took the lead but at half-time the hosts had edged back in front with 164 beating 148. After the break the gap only widened and a chasm opened up when Jonjo Shelvey put Swansea ahead after 61 minutes. When Chico scored goal number two the gap opened up to 255 points and at full-time it stood at 245, poor stuff for Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen. Key Observations Jonjo Shelvey was the second best performer on the pitch with a goal, an interception, a tackle and a passing accuracy of 86%. The former Liverpool man seems like a key man for the Welsh side now and his performances are slowly becoming more consistent. It wasn’t a great night for Kieran Richardson who finished with a performance score of -19. The full-back completed only 50% of his tackles and crosses and was rarely out of his own half. His lack of ability to get forward didn’t help Fulham in terms of creating chances. It was a good night however for Alex Kacaniklic who was Fulham’s strongest performer with 39 points. The Swedish winger completed three crosses, three take ons and finished with an 87% passing accuracy. Wilfried Bony had a frustrating night, having one shot saved and firing another off target. His passing accuracy was well below the team average and he won just three of his 12 headed duels, not a good figure for a player of his ability. Swansea will be hoping he doesn’t have too many more games like this in the run-in.
Our next opponents scraped a 0 - 0 draw vs Chelsea, despite Chelsea having 39 shots at goal to West Hams 1. I'm guessing that's a record.
I thought Keiran richardson had a good game for them,he got roasted when nathen came on but he was decent imo
