A result a lot of us would not have expected and now we are starting to climb the table. I think I was expecting a struggle after the first few games culminating in the home loss against Middlesbrough and yet we appear to have turned it around with many newcomers in the squad and many regulars on the rehab table. Weimann sure seems to be the business over our opening to the new campaign and some of the other late additions seem to have fitted in to the side with very little fuss and hopefully we may have some selection issues when all our crocks are back on the pitch later this season. Looking at the statistics today it appeared a very even game but we came out on top and so full marks to Lee and his lads, and now the acid test will be can we win at Ashton Gate to cement our position?
This is now a better start than last season after 5 games. With selling all the clubs assets as well. What will they say now? But but he’s spent lots. But that’s regardless of what’s been sold in the past few seasons to compensate for the expenditure.
I think we need to step back, myself included, and judge the team by what we are doing today rather than harp on about who did what and when they did it in the past. The ongoing future of Bristol City lies at the mercy of the start of each fixture and by the end of 90 minutes we know whether we have moved upwards or downwards in the table and did we get any injuries that might affect our future team selections? Despite my reticence at the start of the season, and even more after we had a rocky start, the team has fared better than most of us thought possible when you look back at was essentially a disaster for the treatment room over the first month. For many years we have said that we need to make a fortress out of Ashton Gate, but have never really lived up to that commitment, and following on after 2 successive away wins totaling 4 goals and none against this seems to be the perfect time to show our home mettle. Well done lads and you know what we need next.
Easy to say now I know , but had a feeling we were going to do well today , said as much in work yesterday, I don’t know why , possible because Swansea play football . Recently we’ve done well against teams that try to play , teams we tend not to do so well against are ones that sit back , allow to come onto them and then counter attack , either way I just had a hunch . Still a great result though , especially after QPR on Tuesday , great week with 2 away wins. Amazing how much better the weekend feels after a win. COYR
I get your point Ashton because last season we had some awful teams at home who parked the bus and we just didn't cash in on the ticket for three points. Surely the ability to counteract every type of opponent scenario needs to be added to our wish list. You just watch this board light up next week if we can do the dirty on Blackburn for 3 wins in a row.
Got to say I didn't see two away wins in a week being on the cards. Two clean sheets is a very encouraging sign. If LJ achieves a top half finish this season, having replaced most of the L1 champions core, he will really have proven himself in my eyes. I have been a bit sceptical of him and felt, regardless of all the players brought in, he was getting by mostly on what was built by Cotterill. Can't say that this season. So a top half finish will imo be something Lee could fully claim credit for - if we deliver it that is.
Early days, so not getting carried away, but today was a good win by any account - and 2 back to back away wins is encouraging - as are the clean sheets. COYR
Unexpected victory, just hope we can stay consistent throughout the season and avoid these horrid runs we've been on in the past, time will tell. COYR
Wasn't sure what to expect at QPR although on the highlights they looked awful Very unexpected 3 points yesterday, well done lads !
Did anyone from here go? How did Tomas do? Was it him clearing off the line with that header? http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11481951/swansea-0-1-bristol-city
Yes it looks like it’s him. I first thought it was Webster but he had 2 numbers on his shirt, and Webster was in the middle of the area.
Get an error saying I can't watch this from my location? Can't see anything contractual about not being able to watch in the uk??
I’m back in the UK Robin UR. I posted this link from near Exeter after watching it perfectly ok! Not sure why it’s not working for you - do a search on ‘sky sports Bristol City’ and it should come up!
