Anybody who knows anything about Swansea would have started Gylfi against Arsenal, not picked that prick we had up front yesterday and started Leon against Villa too.
The moderator of our forum having a go at our acheiving manager , I hope you went to church today valley .
The fact is we got a lucky break with the ball going in of the players shoulder, he knew nothing about it but i will take any way we get a goal at this stage. Villa who have been awfull all season and getting well thrashed by everyone looked the better side and that only confirms just how bad we have become this season. The top half of the championship look better that we would struggle against any of them including cardiff, It's not certain but it looks as if we will just scrape home but the season has been one huge flop and without some major investment in quality players right through the squad then there is no way we will survive another season...We look and behave like a championship side and that is where we will end up without massve changes.....
Never thought I'd say it, decent article on the Swans by Tucker http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-look-safe-casting-11068260? "It’s obvious too many of their important players are under-performing. But they are hardly being given a chance to shine in an eccentric team selection and set-up by boss Francesco Guidolin, who was back after illness and earning another win, but surely not convincing anyone he is the long term answer at the club."
That is just simply not possible, you can not even start to imagine how many possible scenarios there are, subs are just not planned and are made off the cuff, when a manager sees something not working or needs changing.
Roof - the last time I saw a retreat like that was when I read about Dunkirk. Time to retire gracefiully. That article is spot on btw.
Things you have to do to support a manager when he's being eaten by his own Aussie , I tell ya . But talk about retreats , it's an absolute laugh watching you praise Curtis's subbing to prop your agenda considering what you have said about Curtis's past subbing ... As for pundits and posters , the same guy could say something else and you'd have the same guys come on here and call him an idiot ...serving their own agenda . You guys can make all the points you want to crap on Guido , I'll take the points him and Curtis gave us in the table and support them . I'll tell you something else , Curtis probably had more to say about the starting line ups for the games Guido missed , not sure if that's a plus or minus though ...like the subs . What I do like is watching the squad actually being used , watching Naughton being moved around while experimenting , seeing Amat play , Fulton , even Gomis . I've supported Curtis and Guido from attack and whoever our next manager is I suspect I'll have to support him to ....why , because he's our manager . P.S. I'll toss a coin to guess what Aussie says about the next subs Curtis might ever have to make .
Is it not the case that nobody knows what to do to make us look like a team who has lacked proper investment in the right players that can at least look like they know what they are doing. It makes a huge statement when we have to rely and use our old players to try and do something and that will not do for a team that wants to compete in the premiership in the future. If there are not any sensible changes made by Jenkins and the board at the end of the season and some proper investment in players that are right for the club then our fight to continue long term in the premiership is reduced to fighting another relegation battle and that is something none of us want to see for a long time... The board need to show the fans that they are as ethusiastic today as they were when we started on our venture because i and many cant see this and they really need to give 100% towards attracting some major investors to join the board. The board we have is one of the smallest in the premiership and that is not good when it comes to making decisions as you only end up with one view.
I take your point Dai, but on the obverse side if you have a (very) big board then there will be too many views. Also decisions are less likely to be fruitful `cos of all the differing views.
Breezy: The rantings of a desperate man. Had to backtrack on practically everything you've said about team/ sub selection and tactics so you lash out. It's hysterical, man. Like many others, I was (and am) critical of Curtis for late subs. Asking a player to turn a game when he comes on in the 84th minute is crazy. However, it's inescapable that when Guidolin has had full control we have not played nearly as well. If you think otherwise you're not tuned into the right channel. In my opinion Curtis deserves huge credit for the results he's achieved, particularly as it's clear that Guidolin had no input. Now you can whinge and bitch about "crapping on" a Manager but that's bollocks and you know it. Praising a Manager "because he's the Manager" is polyyanna crap that doesn't reflect reality. A lot of the time he's been on his sick bed and when he isn't we play poorly under him. This is FACT not opinion, Breezy. If Guidolin gets us playing well in the remaining fixtures and winning some points to get us over the line I'll be cheering him along with you, but so far? Nah.
Fantastic, another 3 points and almost to safety. Don't care how we did it, don't care about how we played or if we scored from FF's shoulder or his backside, all that mattered was the points. Recriminations and inquests can wait until the end of the season and we can start afresh. I was as frustrated as anybody by the way we played, but we tried playing football the week before and got nothing. If we'd played gung ho football and lost, imagine the outcry. No, a very happy man am I, and looking forward to travelling to Stoke next, with the pressure off the players slightly it just might be a good game.
Like I say Aussie , we'll see how your ramblings are next time Curtis has to make subs and which side you have to come down on for your agenda ..lol Good thing we rested those players for the Oxford game too so we could lose to Sunderland anyways ...another brilliant Aussie football point bites the dust
You seem to be a regular away fan Keith , if you see this and have time ....have you ever heard the team booed at away game by away fans ?
I've not seen a single post here supporting the booing of players. Have you? I've been to lots of away games over the years and I've occasionally heard booing, but never condone it. Maybe my opinion doesn't count, what with me being 'stupid' and all. As for making brilliant footballing points I suggest you read back through the thread. Apparently Guidolin was the puppetmaster whilst coughing his lungs up. You seem to be on your own on this one because nobody seems to agree, not even Curtis. More reverse gears than a sheep at Rhossilli.
