Talk about fickle fans......None of you understand how hard monks job is when he only has 3-4 quality players and the rest average to below average Premiership level footballers. We just dont have the caliber of player to improve and that is a must every season, We have Ayew who wont be with us next season and we have Ash who dont have a good enough understudy, We have Shelvey the best long ball passer in the side and then we have Siggs and Ki who blow hot and cold...There is no worries with the keepers but the rest are below standard that plays the odd game good.......If it was not for monk we would not have the points we already have as he don't have enough quality in the side to do much better.....We are about in the right position for the squad of players we have any better then we are pushing above our weight and that gets harder and harder every season. Monk is doing a fantastic job with the various standard of capabilities that he has to try and make a team with.....

I want us to florurish under our current manager , he's done ok and we have almost 24 months invested in him.
I have very little problems with his running of the team .....except one HUGE fundamental .... Use your squad .
Not only does it leave us vulnerable when injuries arrive , and they will , but it causes bad feelings within players that don't get used.
Tabanou is already upset and I can see Ader and Emnes not far behind..

What does it say when Monk brings in Tabanou (3.5 million ) and Ader ( 5 million) And both are deemed not good enough to play whatsoever.
Rodgers would have killed for that 8.5 million when we first came up and Monks spends that much on players to ride the bench .....frugal has gone out the window imo

Yes maybe you are right, but he has now put that squad together, so what does that say about him. If they are sub standard as you say why are they still here. Do Watford have a stronger squad than us, if so again what does that say about GM if not what is he doing wrong. It is now his team/squad and if not good enough his fault. So have we a worse squad than last year then, with the money he has spent or did we have sub standard players lat year when we finished 8th/

I didn't want him when signed as manager. But he is who we have and I want nothing more than for him to succeed, but I am not sure he is up to it.

What are they like in training, are they showing enough to take over from gomis. Its not all about scoring goals its how you contribute in the side as well. Gomis is having some bad luck but it cant last for ever, monk is right to keep playing him if he is showing he is the better option in training.

I suppose being top of the offside table is contributing lots to the side.

So if he is good in training but doesn't score another goal all season then we keep playing him. I don't give 2 hoots what he does in the sterile environment of training it is what he does on a Saturday that is important and at the moment it is four fifths of **** all.

That freebee is reported to ne on 80 odd grand a week. but then perhaps we don't have the spending power of a Watford, Norwich or the might of Bournemouth.

Ayew and Gomis weren't freebies they were paid large contracts the equivalent of a transfer fee. Anyone who thinks Gomis is unlucky obviously doesn't go to see the games live. Television or streaming gives you an entirely different overview. I was't against Monk's appointment but yesterday I was really irritated by his team selection, tactics and subs and never mind about training we need to see what players like Eder have to contribute in a match. Andy Carroll in his interview yesterday says he never gives 100% in training to avoid injury and I suspect he is not alone..

Well if we do maybe we will have to give up the riches of the PL next year and make do with parachute payments instead. I can see all top managers sticking with a striker who couldn't hit a barn door and not even give the so called number 2 striker a chance, good management that is.

But as Dai says we aren't paying him big money, bollox we aren't and he certainly isn't earning his money. He doesn't give 2 ****s for the Swans just his pay packet and the sooner gone the better.

Doesn't securing 56 points last season prove that he is up to it?

I would have said yes, But he now has apparently strengthened our squad and we seem to be worse off. So yes he was up to it last season I am not so sure he is this. In reality what happened last seasons counts for absolutely f all come this season.

I think the point of my post was that with 60-odd PL games under his belt, he is no longer a rookie and has already proved that he is "up to it". That said, no manager is safe from getting the sack at some point if results are bad enough - Mourinho being a current case in point. I don't think you can say a manager is "up to it" one season but not the next. In theory, they don't get "worse", they should get "better" with more experience. There are a multitude of factors which affect results, not just the ability of the manager.

Well they can get worse cant they, by making bizarre substitutions or should I say predictable. By signing players who are not strengthening the squad and giving himself no options. His tactics have been found out and he has no other options, so yes he is getting worse in my opinion as are the performances by the team.

I dislike the constant bickering here re Laudrup but this squad is stronger now. Didn't hear much like this when he was in charge, Dai:

"None of you understand how hard monks job is when he only has 3-4 quality players and the rest average to below average Premiership level footballers."

Double standards from you again I'm afraid.

As to whether Monk is 'up to it', his (and the team's) inconsistency is frustrating. One minute he looks great, the next not a clue. I did say we had some very fortunate results last season but was shouted down here. Monk has the ability in my opinion but needs to improve rapidly with his tactics and subs. This League is pretty unforgiving.
