I thought that Arsenal were the brighter team out of the blocks, but we grew into the game as the first half came to a close, Ben Davies was for me the best player first half, and didn't do much wrong second half so he's my MOTM. Second half once again Arsenal were the brighter team from the kick off, and looked the likely team to score, thank goodness we brought Michu on, now that's how to get at them. But why do we always after going 1 goal up, think we are cruising to a win? really annoying this issue, sitting back and inviting additional pressure, it was inevitable that we'd concede, and we did, I said to my youngest, watch us ship a second now, and we did, simply not good enough, and the way I see it, Arsenal should have won that game!..................... PS: I agree with Ivor, we need an evil genius in the mid-field, regarding Ki, he was much improved on previous games, lets hope he continues improving!.........
dyer has let himself down and not just the fans with his lackluster play and there wont be anyone more disappointed than dyer himself, but that happens to most players at some point. you just cant put your finger on it as we all know he can play premiership football. Give him time and he will get back to his best im sure of it....
i was at the game today and i really enjoyed it. can the guys who saw it on the telly telll me of the ref seemed to be giving alot of fouls against us without much reason? thats one thing you have to curse about being their you don't hget to see things twice! anyway lets see which game i can get tickets for next!
A few of our boys were 'doing a monk' Brecon and pretty much hugging the Arsenal players. for the benefit of those who didn't have replays Ramsey tripped himself up in the box but still tried to claim a penalty. Twat. Also Davies was kicked in face which was enough for Chico to see red against Everton but not even a yellow against an Arsenal player...
Watched it on the box. Thought the ref was fair and glad he saw Ramsey's clumsy self-trip. Arsenal were the better side in the second half. As soon as Britton went off we were very sloppy with our passing and thank god Arsenals defence was as nervous as ours when the ball came in the box. Ben Davies my MoM. Hernandez was poor. Dyer still looks low on confidence and I'm still waiting for him to attack his man more. Was quite impressed with Bartley and his crossfield balls. He also showed a lot of passion. And as for Danny...thought he had a good game and worked his ass off. Deserves to be in the team. Nice composed set up by Ki for his goal too
fair play to Ki, he was much improved. I've been quick to criticize him in the past but fair do's he was much better today. Still lost the ball a few times but he finally seems to be going in the right direction. Davies was fantastic for me and keeps getting better. Vorm was outstanding today and saved us several times. One of the best keepers in the division. Dyer was dire, AGAIN. He needs a few games out to learn some new tricks or just learn to pass first time, frustrating. Bartley looked good and seemed comfortable playing the ball out, could be the next Caulker given games. Chico was solid, hardworking and classy, one of the signings of the season. Teindalli made lots of runs but his final ball could have been better. I still prefer Rangel at right back. Britton = consistent, when he came off Augustien didn't make an impact. Britton is clearly being saved for Chelsea. Michu = God Pablo was very off colour today, he had better play better next time or he runs the risk of having a worse game than dyer! JDG kept things ticking over, passed better than usual but didn't pull up any trees. Routs didn't have much impact but his running makes him a target for defenders so he opens up space for the likes of Danny and God to run into. All-in-all we didn't deserve a draw but the last few mins were very exciting. A replay is bad news for us and I wouldn't blame ML for sacrificing the cup to ensure COC and Prem are the main focus.
Thought the ref had a decent game myself. you have to remember its a contact sport and players will fall over, its the divers that are the ones the officials need to keep an eye on as they are nothing more than cheaters and when caught should have an instant 5 game ban with loss of wages.....I would rather lose than cheat my way to a win in anything not just football...
I don't think Ramsey was a clumsy trip, I think he was intentionally trying to get a penalty and knows tripping himself up looks more authentic than a Suarez style dying swan dive. You could see from his reaction he wanted a penalty and anyone who accidents trips themselves up hit the ground in frustration, not screams at the ref for not falling for deceitful intentions.
True, but they're not a great team, and any team from any division would have taken advantage of the way we surrendered in the second half.
Surrendered?? I was at the game and we score twice in the 2nd half. Indeed when we went behind it was great test of character for us. One which we passed superbly by equalising, surely?
Wish we'd either lost or won though, a replay is not really good for both clubs, especially if it goes to extra time.
Not only did we play Arsenal today but more than competed with them and that includes the league ,We are a club who are beginning to take games like this in our stride , the debate recently has been what to prioritise , semi- final in one cup, progress in the FA cup or consolidation in the PL , we could have only dreamed of being in this position until very recently ,yes players made mistakes but again showed that all teams do ,out of the two teams today Wenger must be the unhappiest, he picked a side to day which showed our club the respect that we deserve ,on todays performance by Bartley I can see Monk falling further down the pecking order , for a player who's not played competitive football for 3 months I thought he was very composed and with his height we could see a bit more of him at the cost of Ash ,certainly against sides like Stoke for example ,Pablo tried to hard but too many wayward passes put us under unnecessary pressure , Yet again we showed that the team keep working hard until the final whistle Interesting to see that when Leon went off the arm band went to Vorm ,so as many have said ,there doesn't seem to be a natural leader on the pitch.
Surrendered probably not the right word, but why do we always after going 1 goal up, think we are cruising to a win? there should have been no need to scrap for the equaliser, we should not have taken our foot of the gas, Arsenal showed what being a top team is all about, they went for the winner straight after their first goal, not sitting back on it, which we tend to do!............
Regardless of the result today , a pleasing sight today was the amount of kids of all ages wearing Swansea kits, not Arsenal with Walcott on the back for example but our players names . Sitting in the east stand a lot of the usual suspects weren't in attendance but in place were rows of kids with their parents and they really contributed with the singing ( well the ones which weren't offensive ) , the attendance wasn't announced and it wasn't a full house but I'm sure the ones that did attend would have enjoyed themselves and hopefully will want more of the same .
The attendance today was 18,848 so not a bad turn out Also dont forget alot of season ticket holders sit elsewhere for cup games, I do as its a chance to take the wife and kids
