I noticed what happened during the play. I confirmed that with the first sequence of replays. People are pounding on Bony for an errant pass, which is absolutely ridiculous giving what happened afterwards. I'm not picking on Taylor per se, it just happened to be him that switched off, I would have been as picky with anybody else - I don't have blind favorites. This sort of thing irks me to no end because at this level these sorts of things make a difference, and no player, no matter how good or whatever their "excuse", can afford to switch off or become a spectator - there are people that pay for that privilege and they sit in the stands not on the field.

I echo your point about a fantastic victory, and I have said so earlier in this thread that this game was our best of the season - in fact our first truly complete game in all dimensions. We played a full 90 minutes. We didn't let the goal impact us. We were disciplined and well organized throughout despite missing key players - in fact I don't think we skipped a beat in that regard. We played true to ourselves, by which I mean it was a quintessential Swansalona style performance. We scored two terrific goals. We beat a potent Arsenal team and it could be argued the ref as well because of the no-call on the foul against Bony.

I don't think he would have got near Sanchez really. Sanchez was 20-25 yards further infield and must've been 5-10 yards up the pitch already. I don't really think that one incident like this can really claim to have let down a whole squad belief. This is Alexis Sanchez we're talking about - he doesn't need time to think to place his shot. He's not going to scuff it from 8 yards because he thinks Neil Taylor is a couple of yards behind him. Neil wasn't perfect yesterday, and he could have made more effort during that Arsenal goal on another day, but generally he did his job and showed a huge step-up in his game. He definitely contributed positively to the 3 points yesterday and that's what I'm deciding to focus on this week after a good performance from him. We'll see if he can take this level of performance into the next match.

just watching a replay of the game, has Wenger lost the plot by not taking Chambers off. Glad he didn't of course

it just seemed so obvious Musty..... everyone in the stadium and on tv could see that Montero was murdering him yet Wenger did nothing. If it was the other way around - we'd be slaughtering Monk.

Then just maybe he should at stage and being so tired, considered his defensive duties first and not gone so far forward. If he is not capable of getting back. Better game management by him. Saying all that I do believe he has improved no end since the roasting he took at Man utd. I still believe he stands to far off his winger, but thats my opinion. But agree with most his best game this year, But has to hold his hand up as was partly to blame for their goal.

But they wanted Davies .....having Taylor made the deal more workable for us or there was probably no deal.

Just been having a look at the League table, as you do, just to reconfirm we are 5th and its not all a dream <laugh>

We've now played 7 teams in the top half of the table. As we can't play against ourselves, that only leaves 2 left <ok>

Actually, it demonstrates the pointlessness of such a statistic at this stage of the season as teams come into the top half and drop back down again on a weekly basis. This week we can include Newcastle as a top-half team, but not Liverpool (who we haven't played yet in the Prem).

Interesting also to note Southampton's run of fixtures up to the end of the year. They still have to play Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Everton & Chelsea. Will that slow down their progress or cement their ambition to finish in the top 4? They're good at putting the lower teams to the sword, but what about the better ones?
