" We don't deserve this player " .. Kind of the way I've felt barring his run of games last season which he played brilliantly it seems . Martinez's brings him in , Sousa loans him out , Buck uses him lots last season , stops using him this season . It's a bit difficult to get the scoop on Dobbie as each year progressed , through managerial decisions coming his way .

I do think you could put Maynard in a Man Utd team and he would score goals as he would have better service and he is a striker who can make goals out of nothing. To play at a club like that would make him sharper and fitter and with better players around him would push him on. Newcastle are high in the table at the moment and most of that team is the same team Nicky scored an amazing goal against only two years ago when he ended up top league goal scorer and out score Andy Carroll. Newcastle are also the team who recently beat Man Utd 3-0 and they said before the game none of Newcastle players are good enough to get in the Man Utd team yet they played them off the park.

As for Barca that whole team are that good that you could put yourself in the team and you have a good chance of scoring thanks to a deflected messi shot off of your ass.

I think I just found a way to describe Stephen Dobbie. He's like a poor man's version of what Adel Taarabt was for QPR last year. In a team that can carry him (and at a level which you won't be punished QUITE so ruthlessly as the PL) he's class and will look brilliant. As for teamwork/positioning/tracking back? Forget it!

I mean that more in the way of what role he plays, not his level of skill/technique or anything else! I just mean that he needs to be carried by an effective midfield unless he's played in a 4-4-2 with a strike partner :p Tidy player, bit lazy with team work from what I've seen (and, given successive managers haven't favoured him I'd expect that's surely the only reason he can't break into our team?).

We have a habit of making average players look very good in our system and last year Dobbie was one of those players. Given enough regular game time and morale boosting, he will probably be a very good player for BCFC, just don't expect too much from him straight away. His touch in high pressure situations is one of his biggest strengths, but his first touch in low pressure situations is one of his biggest weaknesses. I think that is due to him switching off/assuming he will control the ball. He can shoot, but he'll score 1 out of 10, and he is not really a striker or a midfielder, so if you don't already, you will need to play him as a 'Number 10' to accommodate him. Absolutely instrumental in us going up, but not that sad to see him go if it happens.

Haven't seen that much of Maynard, but have known about his potential for years. I think he could give us the pace over the top that we need to vary our attack a bit more, and is young, British and therefore a good investment whatever we pay for him (within reason).

Dobbie is only 5ft 8inches so does not fit my interpretation of the type of forward that Derek McInnes said he wanted a few weeks back to give us more physical presence up front..

looking at those goals, perhaps we should be asking Bristol City for Maynard plus cash.... not the other way around. What are we...some sort of charity!

I didn't need to look at that video to know what a talent and goalscorer Dobbie is. The freekick against Shef Utd was incredible as was his goal against Forest and of course the Wembley goal to name a few. If we let him go I'm pretty sure it's a mistake and if it's true that we're offering Bristol Lita as well I'm not happy with that either. When Lita has had his chances he's taken them pretty well and of course scoring a brilliant goal against Blackburn. Is Maynard really worth two good players?!?

Hmmm, Dobbie is a diminutive player and we do have an abundance of those at the moment, he is quality but we would need to change our shape about to accommodate him, and Lita has previous here and I am not sure he would want to return, I would be happy enough but some of our fans really dislike him!

I trust Dellboy will make the appropriate decisions though!
