Very happy we got a clean sheet. Hopefully will give our defence a confidence boost. Only once this season have we gone behind first in a game, which we lost at home to the saints. Every other game we have either been winning or drew 0-0. That doesn't speak well for our defence at all. Just shows the amount of points we've thrown away.

We are sitting in 6th position, Only Manu can take that off us tomorrow, but they will have to beat Chelsea to do it!..................<laugh>

Why do you finish every post with 'en'?

But you're right, TAMAM will have to wait at least another week to continue their campaign. Haha. Valley can have a week off after all.

I wonder if for what ever reason the players expect a drop in intensity during the second half ? I noticed for the 1st time they had just before kicking off for the second had a huddle .Much better performance than off late and they came through the expected pressure form Leicester once they realised they had to go for it rather than hoping for a draw. Bony won the battle against Morgan and Montero showed why he deserved a start ,he was blowing towards end but kept going , he's going to be star for us thats for sure .Good win and it looks like Monk has ridden out the storm with a solid team selection and substitutions made when they were needed.

Something I thought up on the 'Michu' thread. It stands for Those Against Monk As Manager (as an alternative to 'Monk Haters')

Don't think it's a 'campaign' against Monk, Aswan - at least I don't see it that way. What possible use is a campaign on a little footy forum like this? Not having a go but I don't think it helps to use that language to be honest as there's enough conflict here already.

Monk was an unpopular choice for many, me included, and we can't escape that results are always his responsibility. That's just the way it works. Up to today getting only 2 points in 5 games he's bound to get some flak. Monk/ Laudrup will always split opinion and I expect that'll continue for some time. No right and wrong, just opinions.

Like many, I only want my team to do well and win games. If Monk makes that happen then great, all credit to him.

Very happy with a win for Monk's sake. Those bags under his eyes could have got a whole lot worse otherwise.

Much better today. Looked far more dangerous with Montero on from the start. What I love about Montero is that he makes his opposite full back work...hard. Even if he doesn't always beat him, he's knocking the ball past him, making him sprint, or cutting inside. It's tiring for a full back to do that much work. I find that full backs get an easy ride against Dyer and Routledge. Considering the pace and trickery that they both have, their focus on ball retention is much higher than Montero's and they turn back and pass inside/back much more as a result. Montero's aim is to beat his man as many times as possible to get inside his head - he managed to do that today.

Happy with the link up and goals today. Also, on the whole, happy with the defence. Very few errors made today and we only gave them one clear chance at the end. Ki was my man of the match, I don't remember him making a mistake today. Passed well, moved well, read the game well, tackled well and tracked well. Excellent defensive midfielder's performance. Some tough games to come, but we've seen already that Everton are beatable - so let's put a decent team out against Liverpool in the cup but keep our focus on the 3 points against Everton.

That was probably on par with the Newcastle game as the worst performance of the season (and as such, our worst performance for about a year).

We're severely lacking on confidence at the moment. We just can't get the ball to our striker, which was probably the difference between the sides today.

Our side played 4's and 5's out of 10 today which is just not good enough. I don't think we put two passes together first half.

Overall, another depressing result. We never get anything from Wales.

Very pleased with the points but didn't we were are our best. Again seemed to sit back after first goal were under pressure in second half until our second.
We were sloppy with some passing from the start. Montereo i think can get better if he can learn when to hold onto ball and when to try and beat a player- lost the ball few times when we needed to control the game.

Thought our centre backs and ki did well. Still think we should have kept or got a few more players in transfer window.

Hopefully 3 points will ease the pressure. Monk looked like it was getting to him last week.
