And I have offered the opinion that the board will not run the club at a huge loss , you keep on saying that we can easily afford to spend that sum of money, yet the facts don't back that up, we spent over £10m at the start of the season, increased the salaries of all players by new deals. which comes close to £20m . Our policing costs have gone up, we are funding the management company and possibly getting the academy up and running, plus the expansion costs if it comes about.

So tell me, where is the money coming from ?

OK, Dai, got all that but would you pay £6 million for Borini, or more or less?

Ivor in answer to your question NO and my reason is he gets to have a few good games in the championship with us but have not done nothing much since, Jase the ace springs to mind of a player who just cant step up a league, he may be better with us but not at the risk of £6 million.

jager.... the swans cant afford it <laugh> if you say so <doh>

You haven't offered nothing to debate what I have posted, which just proves the point, you don't debate Dai, just use condescending replies or repeat repeat repeat, which I think Leon mentioned yesterday

Yes QPR fans have answered that, they are guessing though, like you! And they hardly spent anything at the start of the season! Try coming back when some Norwich fans have answered !

And again nothing to debate, can I ask do you ever debate when someone has a different opinion as yourself?

£10 - 15million Dai? So you'd bet against us surviving if we only have £9mill to spend? I pedantically mention this just to show that the figures that you are using are simply numbers plucked out of the air. You have no foundation or knowledge to base them on and, as such, your opinion is invalid. The question to debate is not "how much", as the amount Brenden has to spend will be a figure that he knew and agreed upon at the season's start. The pertinent question is rather are there players of quality available that will help improve our squad?

no but i am saying that £1.5 -£2 million wont be enough that jager reckons .......you do know that we are in the premiership dont you,,,,,,,the last time i looked we moved from league two a few years ago...<laugh>.....£10 million + is a small investment, in fact its a VERY small investment in the premiership that may not be enough to get the players we need, dont forget brendan wants AT LEAST 4 quality players better than we already got, where can you get 4 players like that for £1.5-£2 mill........get real and come up to date to the premiership of doing things because without these players we will end up like blackpool, burnley and hull and will have a very short time in this league..

Having read the debate, I would just like to say Ivor, that I would pay 6 Million for Borini, and don't forget we don't necessarily need to pay that all up front! Borini's the real deal in my view..................

PS: Parma have over 60 players on their books, and 28 of them are on loan, which includes Borini to Roma, now under the current financial climate, I see Parma off loading some of these players, and it doesn't look as if Borini is setting the world alight at Roma with his one solitary goal this season, so I hope the club are keeping a close eye on the Borini situation! One downside though is that the Parma supporters see Borini as coming into their first team next year, in a clear out of some of their older players, might not happen though, hope not!.............. <ok>

"where can you get 4 players like that for £1.5-£2 mill......." - How about ADO den Haag, Terrassa, Stockport County, and Wrexham? Or are none of these good enough for the prem either?

    Fully agree ;)

Dai I still don't see the board running the club massively in the red this season, I would say we it would be probably -£5m ++ if we spent about £10m on players and then paid them a salary that reflects that figure.

The board and huw have gone on record many many times that they won't take gambles or risks with the club, or to use your choice of words speculate to accumulate , that is what hull did and other clubs not in the too distant past.

Interesting one that phil , but it's a hell of a bit of business for Parma by getting him for free, then loaning him out for a year for €1.7m then selling him on for circa €7m afterwards, no matter what their finances are!

I would love to know if Borini would have still gone to Parma if he knew that all they were interested in was making money out of him? My thoughts is that he might have stayed and torn up his agreement with them.

Yes it was good business, but I doubt Borini's happy being parcelled off to Roma, and at the moment he's just got one goal to his name, think we could well be looking at a disgruntled Borini, by the end of the season, that may well not want to sign for Roma!!...........

Dai where did we get Taylor from ? and again you levy insults instead of reasoned debate ! And any more posts like those above dai that try and belittle people and your post will be removed ! This forum is for DEBATE first, if you don't like the response try responding in a non inflamatory way , or don't post at all !

Thanks, Phil, that was really interesting. For me it answers the question is he worth £6 million? The trouble is twofold, though. Firstly, would we be prepared to pay that? Secondly, would Parma accept that figure? They are talking more.

Potentially there is also a third problem in that, should he be available, other PL clubs will bound to be interested and we can't compete financially. That said, Borini was successful with us and players remember that sort of thing; also he obviously got along with Buck, liked it here and would expect to start from the off if he came. Intriguing.

You can never tell with Dai whether the references to Stockport (Ashley Williams) & Wrexham (Neil Taylor) went completely over his head or not.

    ***NEWS FLASH***

"...and breaking news, just in. Dai "superswan" 99 has finally admitted to knowing nothing of the clubs recent history, therefore proving beyond doubt what was suspected by many for some time now.....his head is firmly stuck in an orifice."
