Ferguson is far better, but theres obviously something going on for Pardew to completely shun him all of a sudden. He was making fantastic progress last season. Sammy playnig on the right will always frustrate me as well. He cant play there. Every single time he cuts inside and is way too predictable there. Its on the left or not at all for me, but then i see Ferguson as being better...

I think its wrong to start Sammy mind, bringing him on against tired legs is best but he certainly shouldnt start.

I think the issue with both players is that they're both left wingers and neither will oust Jonas from the team, even as a sub as he is the sort of player you want on the pitch for the full 90. That's why Ferguson is being seen as a LB, he's more likely to play there despite being suited to a winger role more.

Would keep Sammy until Marv is fit, then loan him out personally. Just in case we have a few injuries.

I'm worried at the fact Ferguson in 2-3 years hasn't managed to drill sense into him, I cannot see Pardew doing it.

True, but he just doesnt seem to have a defenders build. Theres not many people he's going to be able to hold off is there surely?

I love teams with two proper wingers. Im not really a fan of inverted ones unless its in a sort of 4-3-3 like Chelsea used to play while they had Robben. In that kind of formation you need wingers that are an actual goal threat though. Ben Arfa would be able to do it, but Jonas certainly wouldnt.

I think the only way of fitting Ferguson/Sammy properly into the team is to have them on the left and switch Jonas to the right, which i cant see happening.

I could see Ferguson being a LB for us if he bulks up a bit, but even now he's played there 2 or 3 times and did OK. Could save us a bit of money on a new LB as well. In a season or two's time:

    Krul
Santon - Taylor - Colo- Ferguson
    Cabaye - - Tiote
    Maiga - - - - Ben Arfa - - - - Jonas
    Ba

Obviously impossible to say how our team will look in a year or more, but for the sake of the argument, he could still end up there,
