Really ****ing good result. First half we were awful. Second half we were excellent. Ozil and Mertesacker for me were both brilliant.
Great result, strange sort of game, looks like we might have learned to win when not firing on all cylinders. Not long ago we would have struggled to win that.
Campbell's finish was really good technique, took it across the goal, through players, into the opposite corner, one touch with his right and then buries it with his left. His early chance was good technique as well. He has some really good attributes just needs to polish the edges and find some consistency. Thought he worked really hard today, gave good defensive cover (much better than oxo has been recently in defense) and took his goal well. Happy for him. Really hope he can do a job for us while oxo and theo are out.
I think Campbell might be one of those players who gets his chance through injury and in the end improves the team. He is a good passer, good finisher and also works hard defensively front to back. He might end up being a better option than Chamberlain or Ramsey out wide.
Just seen a stat come up on screen that giroud has scored more headed goals than any player since some time in 2012!
Campbell has 2 other big games to show himself, yes he did good today, fair play, but 1 game is 1 game, let's see how he does when he has a run of games under hist belt. You can put this as 2 games now, the cup and today, and he wasn't very good in the cup game, so let's give it time before we can make a proper judgement call on him.
TBH though I'd consider playing Gibbs out wide for the Munich game, the most important thing for this game is to not lose, we don't have to win, a point will pretty much be as good as a win, get a draw at Munich, and then we know we can go through by winning our 2 games VS Zagreb and Olympiakos.
I missed the game but excellent win against a tricky Swansea side. A side we've struggled against in the past. Glad that it sounds like Campbell worked really hard today, as one of his failings has been laziness and not tracking back.
That is an awesome stat fair play. It's funny as I always had the perception that he didn't score enough headers! Glad he is on form, as when he is he makes such a difference to our team and makes such an impact
Poor first half but the important thing was going in to the break at 0-0. Don't know what AW said in the team talk but it worked. Set piece sucker punch then we tired them out and saw the game off comfortably. Munich will definitely see us adopt a more defensive set-up but if we keep our nerves and play at the top of our game we could come away with a point if not all 3.
A surprisingly good result, I doubt many amongst us believed we could get 3 pts here considering our previous results at Swansea and the recent injury plague we've got. It's really starting to look like we have formed a good "team", all working and looking after one another! Yes, a less than desirable slow start, but once we ground Swansea down we showed professionalism and signs of a Premiership winning team. As other's have mentioned, we pace ourselves nicely through a match and last the full 90 mins whilst knackering the opposition. Special mention to Joel Campbell for stepping up today.. I do worry about his rash play at times, but after todays performance and goal hopefully he will progress from here on in. Ozil again was the on fire... Sanchez looked tired for the best part... Defence was solid and once again Cech proves his worth. Giroud IS an important first team player in my book, BUT only when he's confidence is high.. once again today he showed his worth with great hold up play and a lovely headed goal..again!
