I actually think he got the decision spot on but it was close... some of those you get some you don't but yet again we never started to play until it was too late. Never mind i still think its in our hands, I'm more concerned how bony is than losing 1-0...

We're in a bit of a precarious position in this group now having been in total control after the first 2 games.

Krasnodar have to go to Valencia (who have nothing to play for) and we go to St Gallen (who also have nothing to play for). I suppose we've got two bites at the cherry.

That bl**dy Ibrahima Balde!! We just shouldn't be in this position. <fuming>

Loosing Bony at this time (possibly Rangel too) of the season is critical...

Shelvey was in line when the ball was passed as proved by video replay, as also proved by video replay, the linesman did not flag when Shelvey touched the ball, nor did he flag when Shelvey took his shot, nor did he flag when the keeper made the save. The linesman only flagged as Vasquez scored the goal.

Now Shelvey was ahead of Vasquez when he took the shot, so cannot be offside, not to mention the two Valencia shirts in between Vasquez and Shelvey.

The linesman did not get it right in any sense of the word. And for someone who professes to know so much about the sport, I am surprised your sitting here telling us the linesman got it right. When they were even baffled after watching multiple replays.

As was discussed, if it was for Shelvey being offside, why did he allow play to go on before signalling. That is not what linesman do, they signal the moment the offside player interferes with play, and in this case he flagged when Vasquez touched the ball, who was not offside at any point in that move.

I can only guess you have not seen replays of the incident.

swans, they weren't baffled at all after watching the replays. They categorically stated that both Shelvey and Vasquez were on side, that the goal was good and was proved to be so by the "magic line". The only thing that baffled them was WHY it was given offside and they tried different computerised angles to find an answer.

Bad Lines man decision yes, but the real issue was the way we didn't get going in the first 30 minutes! We are becoming so ponderous and predictable it's painful to watch, I'm glad I had a free ticket to watch the game, as no way was that performance worth £30.00. Valencia had nothing to play for but pride, we on the other hand needed at least a point, but again the away team dictated the tempo, and even when we were huffing and puffing around their 6 yard box, Laudrup couldn't be bothered to get of his fat arse?

Niel Taylor was our weakest link, and they targeted him all night, no way will he get his LB position back in the first team, not only is he not match fit, and over weight, but he couldn't put one decent cross into the opposition box all game, couldn't get the ball past the first man, he was utter garbage, and a shadow of what he used to be. No way is this team going far in this competition, and the sooner we are put out of our misery the better.

I fear that Michu will be rushed back now for Saturdays game, this season is starting to look a right nightmare!.....................<ok>

PS: No wonder some oposition fans call it the Library, the Swansea support tonight was an absalute disgrace, but then that's what you get with plastic!................:emoticon-0113-sleep

Although we really didn't play well we still looked more likely to score in both halves.
We can criticise Tremmell but really it was a tremendous bit of luck for Valencia that the ball broke the way it did...we don't get those breaks these days so it seems.

We were robbed by yet another appalling decision. It's getting farcical now...making me wonder if there is some corruption evident here...you can't be making these "mistakes" every week as far as I'm concerned.

If that perfectly good goal is given on the stroke of half time the crowd and the team is lifted and we see an even more dominant second half from us IMO.

Remember Valencia are a good team and yet needed a dodgy decision, play acting/time wasting and some last ditch defending to beat a spluttering Swansea shorn of Michu, Hernandez, Routledge, Ash and Vorm.

Dragon - what about Taylor's cross that Dyer nearly turned in?

I'd give Vazquez a game or 2 and maybe put Pozuelo up front with De Guzman or Shelvey in behind until Michu is fit...maybe some cameos off the bench for Donnelly against lesser teams.

DPJ stop moaning about the price. If you don't like it, don't go. In my view it's excellent value - £30 to see European football, against the 3rd best team in Spain.

And we can't criticise the performance too much. A bit slow to start but they were probably aware of the fact Valencia could rip us apart if we went gung-ho. We gave a good account of ourselves - let's just keep things in perspective here, we're disappointed because we lost 1-0 to Valencia and we have to wait another game to see if we can progress to the knock-out stage of the Europa League. 10 years ago we were happy to get 3 points against Rushden & Diamond.

Morning folks. Was that a recurring nightmare I had last night or did the officials do us yet again?!

Good post Terror - when their keeper fumbles Bony heads wide (it was no sitter though). Re: Taylor - his final ball in was mostly poor, I much prefer Ben in that part of the pitch.

Valencia showed us how to keep possession in midfield first half and, as nearly all teams do now, pressed us at the back from the off. Second half they sat back a bit and should have scored at least one more on the counter. I thought we played well second half but all our luck seems to be bad at the moment - and that's without even factoring in the incompetent officials.

The fourth/fifth official with a monitor would have given us the draw at least but it'll never happen. Easier to get a "wrong" result as things are now (nudge nudge wink wink).

The City game's going to be very interesting now! Don't think I'll be able to watch this one either due to family commitments.

Terrible atmosphere there. Worst ever imo. Second time in a short period when we've been cheated of a result. The officials gave us nothing and if I didn't know better I'd say they'd been paid off, and that's not something I'd say lightly. The lino didn't flag until the ball was in the back of the net and it was just a terrible decision.

We weren't great. We looked ponderous and lethargic at times with yet again no urgency or penetration in our play, but we did enough to get a draw imo. Now we've made it hard for ourselves.

But am I the only one who will be glad to see the back of this Euro adventure? We have bigger priorities imo.

I think the atmosphere is because there are a lot of "new" fans on Euro nights - i.e. fans that don't or can't go to the league games, but they can get a ticket for the Euro game. Obviously they don't know the songs or even have the desire to sing the songs, so naturally it's going to be quieter.

I'm enjoying the Europa League adventure actually, despite it's frustrations and I acknowledge the effect it may also have on Premier League survival.

It would be a huge disappointment not to get to the last 32. It would say the quarter-finals is as far as we can hope to go.

Love european football but not at the expense of our bread and butter games. time for laudrup to pack his kitbag and leave now before its too late. we look stale and very predictable and a fresh manager cant do any worse..

Why the f**k do we bother :frown:, just so we can say we're PL , so what ,we couldn't have dreamed about playing European football 10 seasons ago and now we are we're still not happy.I wonder for some when did realisation kicked in after winning our first major trophy that we'd be in this competition ,the club has responded by buying quality players to accommodate one of the best managers currently plying his trade in the UK and no thats still not good enough, we moan when "new faces ' are in the ground yet theres some on here who moan that they're not season ticket holders but baulk at the chance of watching us play against recent former CL finalists because it's £30 a f**king ticket. No we didn't win last night and theres a good chance we will lose a few more games this season but as the song goes "you only sing when you're winning " the trouble theres too many following (I meant following because supporting means something totally different) us who forget where we've come from .
