I've said this before I've never booed an ex player, but I don't believe in encouraging them either. It's not our job to lift them in another team's shirt. A polite ripple of applause when the names are announced is enough.
I wonder where we'd be in the PL if rather than spending .£21m on Baston & Llorente, we'd signed Joe & Bony instead? Even if it meant an outlay of c£4m more... Surely we'd be no worse off?
Not buying Baston, Fer, Carroll and Ayew would probably have covered a Bony, Joe and Llorente transfer.
.. and personally, I'd have gone for Sinclair. Not a great PL player but someone who could have done a job for us this season - if only to "stop" the need to have played/wasted Gylfi there
I was watching the Celtic v Rangers game earlier and I kept thinking if we go down, we should sell Llorente and Baston and use the money to bring him back and fire us out of the championship. As you say, not a great PL player, but for me, he's better than Ayew, Routs, Dyer, Narsingh and Montero. He also knows where the back of the net is.
Bailly has picked up a knock. If a Man City player clatters him Thursday and Utd won't have any CBs to play against us. Probably looking at a Carrick and Blind CB partnership then against Llorente. Not that I don't want him to get injured Thursday of course
Pogba and Bailly will have to play v City on Thursday, could aggravate their injuries which means they'll be rested against us for the Europa League the following Thursday, especially if City beat them.
Liverpool beating Palace 1-0 atm. Other than Hull, every other result could be going our way this weekend.
43' STAT: Former Liverpool player Christian Benteke has now scored four goals in his three previous Premier League games at Anfield as an opposition player. http://www.fotmob.com
54' STAT: Crystal Palace have won on their last two visits to Anfield in the Premier League. The last team to win three in a row there were Chelsea in October 2005. http://www.fotmob.com
74' FROM BEHIND, PALACE LEAD! And it's that man, Benteke, again! A poor corner is played in by the visitors, but it skips by Firmino at the far post as the attacker fails to clear his lines, running kindly through for Benteke who tucks it in confidently! Muted celebrations from him against his former club, but you can see what it means to him! http://www.fotmob.com
