I also think that he needs a goal. A striker measures himself by goals scored. Most will console themselves with the result....and indeed Pelle seems genuinely pleased when a team mate scores. It must have been tough for him having his goal disallowed and some of his 'behaviour' may be down to disappointment. Perhaps it makes him think that Saints aren't the team for him....especially as I don't think the area suits his cosmopolitan nature.

So you were happy with his lack of effort Saturday and constant moaning?
And as mentioned before there are murmurs coming out the dressing room that some players are not entirely happy with him.........will that help the team?

So irrational that I've not got involved in discussions on him recently she he's been mentioned? I knew someone would say something like your post. I haven't mentioned him for a while, but did today as there was a lot of conjecture about him this weekend. I think I have a very rational assessment of his strengths and weaknesses.

I was not basically crossing him for "wanting the ball" but for standing there screaming at a team mate... Something he did a lot earlier in the season. At least this time he did it while the ball was out of play. You don't really want that happening within the team. A quick word letting your mate know you were available is all that is needed.

I think that he should be on the bench for the rest of the season and used if the others don't perform, so in that respect, I should have said "his time as a starter is done." I'll stand corrected on that.

If I can't see beyond his shortcomings, how come I praise him for his good games?

I want us to succeed as best we can and right now for me, that is sans Pelle.

We do have to be careful that repetition doesn't give credence to a rumour. Who said he is disruptive....a team mate, non-playing staff who are in the dressing room frequently....or mentioned on a forum?

That's ****e Godders. I'm there cheering every player every week. Is Graziano reading my posts?

I have no need to do that and have spent 95% of my time on his forum being told I am a happy clapper. It is possible to be that and not rate one of our team.

For the record, I sing his name when he plays as I want to support him and want him to do well. It's almost like I'm trying to give him confidence.

    Is that ok?

I hope you're not thinking I am suggesting that Fran? I have not.

Edit: just seen Richie's post. Sorry, your post follows his.

What? with organised walks around the mediaeval city walls, the site of the Old Woolston Ferry just around the corner (It doesn't travel very fast...), both Portsmouth and Bournemouth a short charabanc trip along the coast, and The Isle of Wight only a paddle steamer journey away? What's not to like? I don't know, the young of today, don't know they're born - we made our own fun in them days, throwing farthings and ha'pennies for the mudlarks (Cue tangential thread, with reminiscences that become more and more fanciful)

According to rumour its from a team mate, read the rumour on here so didn't give it much credit at the time, but my brother (who doesn't use this site) repeated the very same rumour when we met up for the West Ham game.
Just seems strange the same rumour 2 different outlets, but then again I appreciate it could be complete hogwash.......

I'd be surprised if Pelle was "giving up", what with the Euros in a few months' time. Surely he'd be trying too hard rather than not trying at all? I admit that I'm a fan (no, I know you're all surprised at that ;)) but didn't think that he played too badly on Saturday and he did score, after all...

Wow for goodness sake some of you take a step back!
This is after all a football forum and people should be allowed to express their criticism of players as they see them. It doesn't mean they are right or wrong in how they see it that is always their prerogative.
Continually criticising someone for having a different view is not actually helping to persuade that person to change his (or hers) view.
How by our discussions on here are likely to affect someone's moral on the field is beyond me. A few criticisms on the internet is a whale of a difference from shouting and hollering at players from the terraces. This is expressing opinions amongst friends isn't it .....Well mostly

Not sure I understand. Are you saying it's okay to express an opinion, but if someone else disagrees with that opinion its not okay to say so?

Not at all, but it isn't right to criticise someone for continually having a different opinion. Having an alternative opinion is good and healthy. An opinion is what it is just an opinion after all.

I haven't heard there is any disquiet over Pelle's supposed moaning. I think sometimes we forget they are human too. As Fran pointed out Italians are always waving their arms around during conversations, also they all get horns for Christmas as they like to honk them enough!

Get that blood pressure checked, mate. You in a bad mood because you were in the dog house yesterday, by any chance?

Like you, I support any bugger who turns out in a Saints shirt, as long as they put in a shift. Graziano is not the world's best striker and he may not even be the best striker at SFC, but as long as he is our player he gets my support. I even supported Jermaine Wright, for goodness sake, and Dan Harding!

(I actually liked Dan Harding and respect him for going to Eastleigh. Good bloke, but there were plenty on here giving him ****e!).

I'm probably one of the Pelle critics overall - he has the capacity to be brilliant at times, and very.....Italian....at others. The thing that doesn't quite add up, as someone mentioned previously, is that with the Euros around the corner he should really be pulling up trees right now. He looked anything but a line-leading international striker in the last couple of games, so I wonder if he's just bringing himself up to fitness (though that would also be a point in favour of starting Austin, to allow him to do same).

I think there could be a little bit of "Koeman out" about it all in that if he bangs one in, I do think we'd start seeing the confidence coming back and the player he can be. Perhaps Ron thinks that too and is trying to "play him into form". If there is truth to the disruption rumour and he's given up trying too hard, well that's a different thing. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt though with that, and see what happens. Saying that, I'm in the camp where I'm a little disappointed currently when I see him starting over other options - I just don't think he's offering enough to the team on current form to justify that starting place. Can all change in a moment though.

Nope, I'm in a great mood and not even in the doghouse! I'm chilled, off work and just defending my view on a player :)
