I see Freddie let 4 in today at Newcastle although he did save a penalty (but West Ham scored from the rebound)
I know what you mean - and as the season progresses opposition players will be instructed to press him ….. I’m hopeful that he will improve in that area - if not ….. Did I read or hear that Hamer is injured?
Are you nervous about his ability as a keeper or the way he's been asked to play ? I did mention on the Reading thread that better sides will or could capitalise on the way he's been instructed to play, that may change should we start conceding silly goals, also you have to question our defenders when playing the "easy" ball back to him. IMO he's an improvement of Woodman in terms of getting the basics right, distribution is better , commands his box seems to hold onto the ball without spilling it a trait which Woodman had a habit of doing. I believe Hamar was brought in as a stop gap and Benda the 1st choice , so far I can't see a reason for that to change but that's my opinion
I'm nervous about his decision making in the way he's being asked to play. He's been caught out/almost caught out a few times already. On all the occasions if he had played the ball quicker he would have been alright - it's like he thinks he has more time than he does. Hopefully it will improve with experience. I have no worries about him otherwise - seems a decent keeper.
I agree his timing makes me nervous as well , as you say he may think he has more than he has. its two games now we've got away with it ,hopefully all facets of play are analysed and that should be one point commented on if not improved
