    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Swansea.com Stadium
    Date - 26 October 2024
    Kick off - 3pm

Following their battling 0-0 draw away at Sheffield Wednesday, next up for Luke Williams’ increasingly goal shy Swansea squad is a home match against a Millwall side that sits one place above the Swans.

On Tuesday evening, the Swans’ winless run extended to five matches after a 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Both sides had chances to take all three points, but neither could find the net.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl made a couple of changes from the 2-0 defeat at home to Burnley, with Svante Ingelsson and ex-Swan Jamal Lowe coming into the side.

For the Swans, Luke Williams made five switches from the 1-0 loss at Blackburn, with Jay Fulton, Zan Vipotnik, Myles Peart-Harris, Kyle Naughton and Azeem Abdulai all started.

Whilst there was not much to shout about for both sides, the Swans almost broke the deadlock when Ronald was played in on the right side of the Wednesday penalty area, but Beadle stood tall to make a fine save.

For Wednesday, their biggest chance to go in front came when Marvin Johnson's teasing low ball was met by Pol Valentin, but he could only find the outside of the post.

The following evening, Romain Esse scored the decisive goal to push Millwall towards mid-table and inflict another away defeat on Plymouth.

Argyle manager Wayne Rooney would have spent his evening wondering how his side could be so dominant in possession for large parts of the game, yet have nothing to show for it.

The Lions clinched their victory thanks to a 13th minute goal from attacker Esse.

His finish came from 15 yards out after he dispossessed Bali Mumba, drove forward and exchanged passes with George Honeyman. It proved enough to take the three points.

It is a result that leaves Plymouth with the worst away record in the Championship with just one point to show on their travels and four straight defeats.

They sit two points and one place above the relegation zone in 21st, while Millwall climb to 13th.

The Swans have played the Lions on 58 previous occasions, winning 24, drawing 13 and losing 21.

In the corresponding fixture last season - which was the final match of the Championship season - the Lions ran out 1-0 winners:

Turning to Saturday, much will (obviously) depend on whether the Swans can finally end their goal drought.

If they can, then I think they could go on to score a couple and run out 2-1 winners. <cheers>

Maybe we’ll get a penalty or Millwall will score an own goal from one of our sideways passes ?

Thanks Taff. I am in Porto so didn't see the goal fest on Tuesday!
Surely we have to score today. If we do then it's a 2-1 win

Josh Key, Liam Cullen and Gonçalo Franco return to the Swansea City team for this afternoon’s Championship clash with Millwall.

The trio come into the side after being among the substitutes at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, with Kyle Naughton, Jay Fulton and Azeem Abdulai dropping to the bench.

Lawrence Vigouroux is between the sticks for the Swans, with Key rejoining Ben Cabango, Harry Darling and Josh Tymon in defence.

Franco teams up with Matt Grimes in midfield, with Myles Peart-Harris and Ronald occupying the flanks.

Cullen and Žan Vipotnik lead the Swansea attack.

Swansea City: Lawrence Vigouroux; Josh Key, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling, Josh Tymon; Ronald, Matt Grimes (captain), Gonçalo Franco, Myles Peart-Harris; Liam Cullen, Žan Vipotnik.

Substitutes: Jon McLaughlin, Jay Fulton, Joe Allen, Florian Bianchini, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Kyle Naughton, Nelson Abbey, Ollie Cooper, Azeem Abdulai.

Millwall: Lukas Jensen, Danny McNamara, Jake Cooper (captain), Japhet Tanganga, Ryan Wintle, Macaulay Langstaff, Ryan Leonard, Duncan Watmore, George Saville, Romain Esse, George Honeyman.

That should have been a red for Wintle.

I can't fault them for effort that first half, especially the first 20 but we have no attacking quality. Praise for trying various different corner techniques but again, not executed well.

I still think Vipotnik could be a decent striker but there's absolutely no service.

It's now been over 500 minutes since Ben Cabango scored against Bristol City - the Swans’ last Championship goal.

    That's more than eight hours… <doh>
