I don't see why not. Surprised how old he is (30) but he's got plenty of experience in French football and presumably some CL experience with Lyon. I don't see much between him and Benteke apart from age.
The problem for the big club's is that the fans want/demand big fee players to be signed. It doesn't always work out. Recent history is littered with huge signing flops. Gomis,at 7 million,is simply too cheap,and the big boys look elsewhere,ready to gamble away another 50 mill.
Just like in stocks, there is always a reason why something is cheap. Lo But seriously, many players go to big clubs only to flop, then you smell them back to smaller club and they shine. I think the intensity gets too many of them.
I dont think that's true in this case. I generally believe there is a real lack of quality in terms of strikers around the prem. It's not at all to do with Gomis not being a big name. It's a genuine belief he wont be good enough. I personally want a proven goalscorer who's consistently managed that in different comps ideally - whether he's a big name or not is irrelevant.
It really is a monumental joke. When you think about what happened in the previous 2 summer windows. When you think about all the build up to this transfer window. The consensus being we were going to replace RvP and buy a CB or even two. It beggars belief.
It is sad!!! Like seriously, wtf?? We sold all the strikers and had zero replacements for them. That is just shocking to me. Now we are paying 36m for a 19 year old. Not even Messi and Ronaldo were worth that much at 19. Bananas!!!
