Anybody know how well Gorre did? Looks like he's being readied for the step up, maybe.

Hopefully kiff, he looks to be a real talent and if we're not going to play him this season he needs to go to the championship for development

I'm sorry but I'm pretty excited about Fer , Naughton too ....Naughton ended last season pretty good too .
Poor Guidolin has got to be scratching his chin over McBurnie too , been showing signs of belonging .
Should be making the bench at least IMO .
But it's nice to know Fer can play in Siggy's spot if need be .
Cork is really coming on leaps and bounds .
Taylor better be firing on all cylinders or Kingsley will knock him out of his spot ...if he hasn't already .
More pluses than minuses , we get another quality striker and we will fear no one .
Just watched the highlites ...Fer was a passing machine out there , he's a man on a mission to prove himself IMO and the goal was a superb effort to shed players an tuck in in the corner ...NICE!!

Could have easily been double figures in the first half if the chances were taken, Eased off in the second half and well in control of the game against a poor side.....i expected a tougher test from rovers having had back to back promotions. I hope Swindon and Wolves give us a better test.

We looked vey good - some great passes and movement.
Bristol Rovers were the worst team I've ever seen based on those highlights.

Defensively , the Rovers looked nothing short of pitiful , especially on the last goal by Routledge .... Their defenders looked like they bought tickets to the game on the play .
Was really satisfing watching some of Fer's long low passes hitting there spot though .
We can only do what we can with who is put on the pitch in oppostion , The rest of the pre season and our first few games will paint a better picture to what was able to build in a quiet enviroment after being flung into a hostile enviroment late last season .

No he wasn't. Curtis got thrown into the hostile environment. The improvements, changes etc happened before he came in, thanks to Curtis.

Nobody said Curtis wasn't thrown into a hostile enviroment , but it doesn't change the fact that the 1st game Guidolin was in charge , with 16 games remaining we were 1 point out of relegation ....don't be daft man .

Not sure that was a hostile environment. More like 'difficult'. Guidolin kept us up though, and deserves enormous credit for that despite some awful performances at times. The way we played at Bristol, depite the quality of the opposition, makes me hopeful.

Monk handed the club over to Curtis after getting 14 points from 15 games and 2 points from relegation .
Curtis handed the club over to Guidolin after getting 8 points from 7 games and 1 point from relegation .
Pretty tough gig for Guidolin .
Guidolin handed the club over to us in 12th place after getting 25 points from 16 games and a long way from relegation .
I think we have a much , much better value of a player in Fer than we would have in Allen ...4.5 million compared to 15 million , no contest .

Who cares about the past now its the present we should be more concerned about. We have had some major changes at the club and we enter the unknown where i hope we have improved on last season, We have a new manager who is yet unproven that he can handle a full season in the top league and we have new owners that we dont really know much about or what their plans are in the long term....Im optimistic about the coming season but not over optimistic that i can say we will do well or not and only time will tell you that. I'm more of a hope fan at the minute that we have got things right....

Agreed Dai. Raking over old coals isn't helpful really because it doesn't tell us as fans where we're going. We are where we are but my heart is always in my mouth when the transfer season comes around. Gylfi and Ayew will both be targets I think.

And if we haven't been able to replace the strikers when we knew in May they wouldn't be here and we wouldn't have any, What chance of replacing Siggy and Ayew (god forbid) before the window closes, I would suggest none the way this window has gone up to now.
