Swansea City v Bournemouth Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com Stadium Date - 26 April 2022 Kick off - 7:45pm Following a third successive draw, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a home match against automatic promotion contenders Bournemouth. On Saturday, Middlesbrough's Championship play-off hopes suffered another setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw by the Swans. Riley McGree ended Boro's four-game goal drought with a deflected drive at the start of the second half. But Swansea trailed for just two minutes as Michael Obafemi produced his latest cool finish. Middlesbrough are five points off the play-offs having failed to win in five games. The draw sees them climb a place to eighth, but victories are needed if they are to force their way into the top six. They might have claimed all three points here had Aaron Connolly's late effort not come back off the post - the third time the woodwork rattled in a thrilling second half. Swansea drop to 14th, but are finishing the season in good shape having stretched their longest unbeaten run under Russell Martin to eight games. Whilst the Swans were drawing against Boro, Dominic Solanke's 98th-minute penalty snatched a point for Bournemouth in a 1-1 draw against Championship leaders - already promoted - Fulham. Aleksandar Mitrovic's 41st league goal of the season, awarded via goalline technology, looked to have all but sealed the title for the Cottagers. But the Cherries won a penalty deep into added time as Harry Wilson was penalised for a foul on Adam Smith, with Fulham boss Marco Silva sent off for his protests against the decision. Solanke stepped up to slot the ball home for his 27th league goal of the season and keep the title race alive for another week. The Swans have played the Muff on 62 previous occasions, winning 23, losing 26 and drawing 13. In the corresponding fixture last season, the teams played out a goalless draw: Turning to Tuesday evening, I have a sneaky feeling that the Swans are going to win 2-1, thereby giving a huge helping hand to Steve Cooper’s Forest team who are probably Bournemouth’s sole contender for the second automatic promotion place.
It would be nice to finish the season unbeaten, so I hope we'll continue that run, draw for me 1 - 1.
Thanks Taff...ever the optimist me even though I am bottom of the prediction league....as long as we don’t show them to much love and play our own game we can win this
Great first half, but can we see out this game? Or will our tarts at the back drop their pants again?.....
