u gotta laugh at the jacks flying theyre queens colours hey>>>>it more than confirms what a bunch OF suckers they really are. SUCKERS
So far so good in the recruitment stakes this season, For someone like monk who many thought he would not be able to attract top players then he has put that one to bed very early....We are looking strong for a top half finish and maybe another shot at European football again.
Dai - I admire your confidence, but Fabianski on a free and Emnes are hardly earth shattering acquisitions. Monk has also "attracted" Scottish League wannabe youngsters and Gomis (also on a free) who just wants to play in the Prem - **** all to do with Monk being there. Also plenty of time yet for Michu, Bony, Davies, Williams and others to jump ship. Most suspect Huw is pulling the strings on his puppet Monk, and it's just as likely you'll suffer from the puppet-master's decisions as benefit from them. Most of you thought Monk was out of his depth and were calling for his head when things looked very dodgy with a few games to go last season. Now because you stayed up he seems to be flavour of the month (for now). If you get off to a bad start this time around like last year, you could be down around there again next May. Don't count your chickens pal - there were plenty of you predicting a top 6 place as a probability last season.
Sparkey there is also plenty of time to purchase new players. I find it surprising that someone like yourself with a good football knowledge is downing the signing of Gomis. i am sure if he had signed for you you would have been shouting from the rooftops. i dont think any of us think we are guarenteed to stay up next season. Like most of you cant say you are guarenteed to go up. But what ever happens we still have at least another year of watching top class sides and not having to travel to the likes of Brentford (saying that always had good days at Griffin park)
Trundles - wasn't "downing" the signing of Gomis at all mate - read what I said again. I would have loved to have got him last year ourselves. My point to Dai was only in answer to his contention that Monk had brought him to the club. I think that is stretching it far too much giving such credit to his persuasive powers. I would wager that Monk had very little to do with it at all - it was all down to Huw, especially as he had become a freebee on a Bosnan this summer. If Gomis turns out to be another Bony, Huw will deserve the accolades, not Monk. Of course, if it doesn't turn out that way, I wonder who will get the blame eh?
£80K a week for 4 years! - really? That's almost as bad as £45K a week for 5 years for Cornelius. I suppose at least Gomis has a decent track record. The merit in all this is that he cost you nothing on a free so you could offer him more on his contract, whereas last summer there would have been the purchase fee up front to consider. For us, the £45K a week to Cornelius was on top of the £8M fee we paid Copenhagen for him - now that was really stretching reality.
you've said in the past that players are mercenaries and simply go to the highest bidder. how would you reconcile that view with what you said here? as said previously, gomis didnt even know what country swansea are in, let alone who your manager isâ¦â¦â¦
You've got to think that's cheap. £4m a year for a player worth around £8-10mil in last years market. First post for 3 weeks and it's about the ****ing Jacks.....
He can't reconcile it - it was obviously Monk that attracted Gomis to Swansea, nothing to do with Huw and the money offered. Dai doesn't half write some ****.
