Good post exiled, and agree with where we need to strengthen, it was only Emnes that got at them, he clearly was not talked off his game by Chelsea players................<ok>

I'm so sorry for you that you find that funny.Ok laugh at me cos I believed and hoped.
We were beaten before we went onto the pitch today.Yes they were far far so superior but I expect fight.I,and you and others pay these players to live a life most of us can only dream of.I expect them for 90 yes 90 minutes to earn that lifestyle. This includes Mr Monk and his staff.
Laugh away sir,you and others were correct.Feel better now.........0-5........for me it Fukn hurts.

Monk has gone with some experimental formations and even tried this 4-4-2 in the past, what the hell he is up too only he knows, but he should have learn't from how they didn't work previously, I just cannot understand his leaning towards 4-4-2, if he wants 2 strikers up front then it would be far better with 3-5-2, but we do not have the quality defenders for that either, there are very good reasons why we have had much success over the years with a possession game and 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1, he is clearly still a 'Rookie' at the minute...................<ok>

I still cannot get my head around what he did today, you'd swear this was a Mumbles park game....<doh>

I thought Chelsea were superb today and were far to good for us but as they are one of the top teams in the world, packed with world class players and managed by , argueably, the best manager in the world was that any great surprise. On the day we were below par and they weren't so that could only be one result. The rest of the games, except possibly Man City will not be as difficult so get over it, tomorrow's another day..

I was wondering where Leon was too but it makes sense now why Monk played Gylfi there. There wouldn't have been anyone else to play alongside Carroll. We desperately need another DM.

Thanks, had a really bad day and didn't pick up on that.

It reinforces the fans' view that we need a central defensive midfield player and have done for over a year. While Carroll is brilliant IMO with Leon both get over run when playing alone.

The performance today also highlights our need for a replacement for Taylor and Monk's arrogance.

Still smarting - Chelsea maybe world class but have any other teams this season buckled, then crumpled before bending over and pleading for some lube?

Well spotted TBF Sunderland enjoyed it ... without the lube!
Didn't we turn down Koeman last summer?
Included in Sunderland's following four games was a 0 - 0 draw against the 'best team in the world' (not Leicester)
    Sunderland0-0 Chelsea
    Leicester0-0 Sunderland
    Sunderland
    1-1 Everton
    Crystal Palace1-3 Sunderland

    (should have put 'to Chelsea')

When you are able to comprehend what has been written on this Forum covering the situation re Laudrup, especially by me,then perhaps you can make a sensible comment. <ok>

But you are showing distinct indications that you have chosen the wrong jockey. You'll be sharpening your knives ere long,so look out GM. <laugh>

Actually we do have the quality defenders to play 3-5-2. We have Fed, Ash and Amat. However, 3-5-2 is played with wing backs not wingers. We don't really have any of those although Taylor and probably Rangel, Tiendali and Jazz could play that role and actually cross the ball better than our wingers Dyer and Routs. Dyer and Routs cannot play as wing backs - defensively they're not up to it. Montero is a possibility - he's a pretty clever player and his speed can cover a lot of deficiencies while he gets up to speed. He can certainly win the ball. When we played 3-5-2 under Toshack, the 2 were Leighton James and Latchford with Curtis playing deeper .... I think. So Monk could do it, if he wanted to bench Dyer and Routs and with most teams playing one striker we could play with the 3.

The problem is the coach. LVG is having a tough time at United getting them converted and he knows the system inside-out. Monk .... well, just think about it.
