Ran out of steam in mid-field second half. Gomis is no sub for Bony - not a patch on Bony at the moment.

Skin of the teeth defending at the end.

Still ..... we survived for all three points. A game of two halves. We lost the plot in the second.

Phew :emoticon-0107-sweat Back down to earth with a bump. I had visitors second half so was back and forth but it looked like we played too deep second half and looked like rabbits in the headlights at times.

Saying all that it's three points and we live to fight another day <cheers>

Average performance. Tops. 3 points on an average day is not bad. We need to improve to get three points against West Brom...

Same as last season. need more depth in midfield! I wonder if Amat could play CDM If we don't manage to get one in?

It's a win - which is great, but a better team would have buried us today. We certainly looked stronger against Man United last week. Taking Dyer off was a mistake for me - he was always most likely to create something.

Let's hope that Fernandez bolsters us and helps with composure. If we can beat WBA next week it will be a start that none of us dreamed of !

I thought Routs should have made way for Monty today. I hope Monk isn't trying to manage "by numbers" and has the nous (or learns it) to think on his feet.

Wrong. Some of us believed that we could win all three. Dragon even predicted a 2-1 win at Man U. We are a good team and have got some great players in. Why wouldn't we be able to win first 3.

How many people actually put their money where their mouth is for the Man U match ? I would think it's more wishful thinking from the heart than a serious prediction from the head.

Are you saying that you expected us to win all 3 games - back to back ? Something we failed to do all last season ? I certainly didn't. I just hope that we have no replay of last seasons home match against West Brom.

Top draw ... a tad generous.

Top draw first half .... barring Dyer's crossing, which really let's him down - shame. Bony was terrific out of the box and needs decent service when in it.

Sub-par second half. This needs to be analyzed .... lack of stamina? lack of focus? lack of desire? Whatever it is, we deflated and lost command when we needed to pickup the tempo. It wasn't just one, it was all three of them - Ki, Shelvey and Sig. Shelvey can do some shockingly silly things at times.
I don't want to say that we lacked desire, but Burnley definitely had more purpose about them.

Montero ... this guy can go past backs with relative easy and he can cross. We need to get much better at bringing him into the game when he's on the field. Give him the ball and he can shift the balance of games.

Yes but that was a one in a hundred result and Phil's dining out on it to be sure <laugh>

If we can beat WBA next week it'll certainly be a dream start for me <ok>

Edit: "one in a hundred" is an exaggeration but you know what I mean ;)

I thought Amat was pretty solid again today. Fernandez is not an automatic selection unless he is something special. In which case, I would try Amat in a full back role, but he's playing too well not to be on the field.

Mine wasn't, it was based on the team sheets of both teams, I stated my reason why I thought we would get the 2-1 win at Manu, and I also pointed out the injury list of Manu, and the fact that Monk will be going all out for a win, I also predicted a 3-1 win today, though we got thrown by the style of Burnley's in your face game today, then add in Shelvey's poor midfield game, and Bony not at his best, but still won, we defended well to take all 3 points, though we need to get back to controlling the midfield for WBA, and I predict another win on the road!.......<ok>

Great result, it seemed to me that games like this were where we struggled last season so im chuffed to get all 3 pts. Just West Brom next weekend now and then a little break for Monk to organise knowing exactly what players we will have till xmas at least.

You have to give Burnley credit for not giving up but they only had the one shot on target. We controlled the first half and we stopped them in the second half. we cant ask for better than that....We don't have the god given right to win any game as you have to work hard for it and we did that superbly...

Just got home from the match.

Agree with you, really poor in second half but managed to keep them out.

Last season, whether under Laudrup or Monk, I suspect we would have conceded at least one. However, we rode our luck and pocketed the 3 points.
