Imo you're looking at it the wrong way around, Breezy. A team effort got us into the Prem, but take Sinclair's goals away and we wouldn't have made it, either in a season or at the Final. It's a question of maths. Sinclair's signing was the catalyst that got us from almost making it to actually making it. That's not doing down anyone else, because without decent players around him it wouldn't have made a difference. But if you had to pick one player that delivered the Prem to us above all others it's got to be Sinclair. That's my view, anyway. Swamp: "he went to chelsea for the money when he was 16 or 17 from bristol rovers..." So...Chelsea offer your 16 year old son a contract to play for them after he's been playing for Rovers. Your advice would be what exactly? I suspect he went because it's one of the biggest clubs in the world maybe?
Completely agree Knackered! Sinclair and Brendan Rodgers are really the names of the new chapter we've entered which involved our arrival in the Premier League. Of course it is a team game but Sinclair contributed all those goals which statistically got us to the Prem. You don't need to have been a loyal player languishing with us in the lower leagues to be a legend. There is a huge chriteria for being called a legend and for me Sinclair fits the bill. Will always be a legend in my eyes. Besides any player that pulls on the shirt for our club and gives his all on the pitch is a legend in my eyes.
erm, yes, chelsea have a fantastic record of stunting young players careers... kakuta bruma lukaku van ahnholt borini etc etc their path is blocked to the first team.. or, you can stay and develop by playing first team football before making a step up when you're ready... http://theshedender.com/2011/05/vie...i-admits-frustation-over-chelsea-youth-policy borini:
Not sure what your point is. You said he 'went to Chelsea for the money at 16'. I'm saying that's crap. As a parent who had a talented youngster I can say categorically that if a club the size of Chelsea came a-calling my advice would be to go for it. I'm sure yours would be too. Chelsea also have a record of loaning out players successfully. Sturridge ring a bell? I understand big club players who aren't getting a look in moving on but if you are seriously suggesting that a kid who is a Bristol Rovers player should shun the advances of a club like Chelsea because he wants first team football then I'm sorry I don't believe you. We both know that in reality the attraction of a 16 year old moving from Bristol to Chelsea involved other factors other than money.
My dictionary defines "legend" thus; "A person whose fame makes him,or her, seem exceptional". It defines "exceptional" as being an individual possessing more than average ability,or skill. So on the basis of those definitions,it would seem that Sinclair can justifiably be referred to as being a legend.
at 16 yrs and playing for Bristol rovers he wasnt going to do any different other than join a top 4 club, the money would have been a part of it but not the main reason, a chance for him to join one of the biggest/richest clubs in the world or stay chewing straw at the worzels...hmm wonder which one id choose
we need to get as many players as possible who we want next season on improved contracts that will incure better wages because then if anyone comes calling for any of our big guns then they will have to pay to dollar for them. sinclair is just one of a few who we need to improve their contracts before the season ends..
Lots of people want Dyer & Routledge to start ahead of Sinclair . Lots consider Sinclair a legend .. I 'll give him .... awesome , best I can do !
