Bego has had a few poor games (by his standards) and I wonder if his mind is elsewhere? Maybe we are expecting him to go and have no need to risk an injury or dip in form affecting his value.
With his contract running out I think its time we cashed in and Butland seems a very good prospect - although unproven at this level week in week out. The problem is that his value to us will far more than his market value and unless De Gea moves I cant see there being a rush for GK's in general. I would imagine his wages are quite high (for us) so I suppose it would give us the option to pick a higher paid loan deal or complete the Moses deal without increase our financial spend.
Yes, it's amazing what a difference a week in football can make. An impressive performance and win today and other results have gone our way. It has renewed the possibility of us finishing 8th, though I still think Swansea are favourites to achieve that position. 1 more point guarantees us 10th and beats last season's points tally.
Today's game was really enjoyable. It was fabulous to see Muniesa back and he seemed like he'd never been away. I went to the match with a West Ham fan and she graciously cheered with me when we scored, until she realised it meant we leap-frogged wet spam.
He was really good, N'Zonzi shone bright too, and Adam. It was one of those rare occasions when everyone performed well. A joy to behold. Atmosphere was great too.
Fantastic season for both of us - is all about 8th now. Can't see us getting anything at Arsenal tomorrow and will also be a big ask to get anything for Man City on Sunday at the Liberty! Think you will take 3 points from Burnley and we will be tied on 53. All down to the last day - we have Palace away, you have Liverpool at home! Very hard to call, both of our opponents will have nothing to play for apart from pride. Just above us however, Southampton have Villa at home and then Man C away - can either of us catch them and finish 7th? Congrats on your season Potters, like ours it has been one hell of a ride.
Fantastic result by Swans last night and probably on the season have edged us and deserve to be ahead of us in the league. As Ricc said in another thread I do think that had Odemwinge and Bojan been fit we would have pushed on further, both Walters and Crouch have showed their age this year. For me, the CP home match and WB away were the two games which have let us down, 2 draws should have been a minimum and realistically we should have got 4 points from those two games. If's and But's I know, but we cant lose games like that at key points in the season.
How about early season home form Smithers Leicester, Villa & Burnley amongst others...we had Bojan then!
How nice it is to chunter about finishing 9th instead of 8th. I agree they probably shaded it over the season, as the table shows. Well done Swans
True, but the two games I mentioned we were bang in form on a good run, early in the season we were still uneasy - but point taken.
Smithers and all, don't misunderstand me...I am delighted at where we are right now. AND with the brand of football we are playing under Hughes. He has done a great job...just do not like the cut of his jib
What is it you dunna like Nic? I used to think he was a bit dull, but give me that over the pantomime that the Villa and Leicester managers provide (thingy and what's his name ) I still worry about his ambition and I am concerned he would drop us if a big European came in for him, but I hope I'm wrong. In saying that, if it was a big club, it would be wrong of me to begrudge him that I 'spose.
Hughes and Stoke are a creditable third...... http://www.squawka.com/news/look-aw...-point-this-season/375832#OayVfsClFcgsh1LO.99
