I'm not trying to tell you what you meant roof. I just have trouble understanding what you mean. It's all very romantic running a successful Premiership side on a shoestring, but you can't. You just can't. The money involved now is staggering. For some of us who have watched the Swans for decades it was a big deal signing our first £1M player. You can't do that in this Division and have to pay up on transfers and wages. The Swans are governed by what the going rate is in the League and we can't pay peppercorn salaries even though I'm sure Huw wants to. For teams outside the Prem the money involved is sickening but compared to other clubs in the Prem our wages and transfer fees are well within normal limits.
Alright, you can't run a Premiership side on a shoestring indefinitely. We got lucky in the first couple of seasons but you can't keep doing that year after year. I just won't last. Sometimes you have to buy real quality and that costs.
Lots of teams have gone down the road of paying big for quality and never getting it.And guys like Shelvey and Ki ( these days) are our star players , but we will never make a profit off them so keep them.Bony and Davies would have brought us huge profit so sell them..just an opinion .
There is always a case for taking the money but we virtually gave Davies away with Vorm in order to get a player valued at £6-8 mn at the time.
Davies should have been a solitary deal , but Huw got taken to the cleaners trying to advantage the dutch club .After watching Liverpool getting beat today, Im sure Rodgers is kicking his own arse for not getting Bony in the summer ...he made a huge mistake imo.

Answer: Simply, to reap the dividends in excess of initial investment. Put in (invest) £100 to take out (extract) £120, value extraction. Be aware, be very aware.
Investment is a two way thing. The investors certainly want a return of some sort, which may not be monetary but the invested in will also benefit. We just have to hope that those in charge have enough nous not to be taken to the cleaners.

The no1 is the shirt to advertise but that is not the only way to advertise.
