From the BBC Humberside commentary, the Gruesome Twosome were a long, long way from where Brady was brought down. They debated briefly, between the two of them, as to what happened. They didn't see it, as far as my recall goes.
It was impossible to see from the away end, so either you were sat in the Barnsley end, or you've made that decision based on seeing it on TV?
based on having good eye sight. the tv is not 100% conclusive. i said at the time and until its proved otherwise IMO it was Not a Penalty. if it had gone against city i would have been livid. it was pure cheating.
You think it was, based on seeing it from a very difficult position at the opposite end of the ground. Let's wait til it's on telly before we have a go at one of our players for cheating, espcially when they've shown so much honesty for the entire season and never fallen to dirty or cheating tactics like some sides in this league.
So you're saying that the images from the tv camera, that was presumably on the half way line, with wide angle lens and focussing (and possibly zooming in) on the action were inconclusive, but your eyesight from the opposite side of the ground was crystal clear?
I was directly in line with him when he went down and I was quite high up, but I don't have the slightest idea if it was a penalty or not.
The match report in the Yorkshire Post tended to suggest that their reporter couldn't tell whether or not it was a pen either. All it said was that "Brady was adjudged to have been brought down" (or something like that). Didn't say it was harsh, dubious, soft, nailed on etc.
the tele was 100 yards away. swanny and David Burns BA (Hons) were about the same. The ref was yards away!!!!
peter swann played the game, so must know what hes talking about......... dont have the time or the patience, but would to filter back through the archives and find peoples opinions on iain dowie and cross reference them, that could make interesting reading.
i am not alone in my thinking. that said i am man enough to apologise if the Tv pictures prove otherwise. unless we can watch a MOTD slow-mo with close up of it then the arguments will carry on. as a side issue i thought Fryatt should have had one after a bad challenge and also NP says that both the 4th official and ref. match assessor both said they thought that joe dudgeon had been to honest before the penalty. just goes to show eh how everyone has a different opinion on what is and is not a penalty. what annoys me more is that todays Pros are told to dive and its in the modern players make up. Even last season Howard Webnb said he told Ian Holloways Blackpool players to dive if they wanted more penalties.
i would like to see a close-up of it on slow-mo. but i am sticking to what ive said so far, imo it was not a penalty and i am not alone in that thought.
