No, the horse was called Bula.

Didn’t think it would be. Only a typical HDM employee would nap Nijinsky a horse that was odds on for every race except one in the year he did so.<laugh> Not a lot of interest in horse racing but I still remember the snort of derision from someone in the office who was a keen follower of it over that.

It really should be identified as a mental illness when people lose control of the amounts gambled.Someone very close to me discovered my safe unlocked when I went on holiday I came back to seven k missing it had been fed into a fixed odds terminal around the corner to me.Another mate one of the most straight laced people imaginable doesn’t drink or smoke never gambled in his life decided god knows why to start late night online gambling and blew £40 k in two weeks on credit cards he would max one out than apply for another. To this day he can offer no explanation but it is certainly designed to draw you in .Never mind all the baloney on tv with famous faces asking you to bet safe ,set limits etc it should in imo be shut down totally but that’s never going to happen.
I agree that some people go way too far with their gambling habits and it's a well known fact that some people have taken their own lives due to the utter mess they've got themselves in financially. That's a sad side that nobody wants to see and it certainly highlights the dangers of betting outwith your budget or limits.

That said,I've been betting for 48 years, mostly horse racing, and have to say that I enjoy the challenge of trying to beat the bookie by studying form and following particular horses, trainers and jockeys.I'll be honest,I'd be lost without it,it's my main hobby...That and following Hull City.

I've never harmed anyone through it,never stole or borrowed to fund it,never seen my wife or kids short through doing it and I never would.

The fact remains that nobody ever twisted my arm to become involved in gambling,I enjoy it and I miss it on days that the racing is off...like Today!!

Absolutely Ric. It’s when to have a break. As you know I’ve had a bit of time on my hands so done a fair bit of World Cup punts and footy in general. Up and down so enjoyed the game. Started losing a bit and needed that time to stop for a while moment. Came last night. Motherwell 2-0 up and then Kilmarnock have a man sent off. Ends up 2-2.
Time for that break.
