Surely not McClaren. But...there was that rumour before the game on Saturday that Sven was moving upstairs and McClaren was to be the new first team coach. Maybe Sven wasn't keen. I really hope it isn't true. The only positive would be pissing off those who wanted Sven out!
The sacking of managers early is nothing new but the length of time managers seem to be in a job these days has got a lot shorter. And whilst investment in our game is a good thing the fickleness of owners brings a lot of uneasiness for clubs with foreign owners. Do the players Sven brought in now become surplus to requirement of the incoming manager?
Some idiot just said on the football forum Mick McCarthy and Darren Ferguson was at the KP at the weekend So if they was at the KP who was at the Wolves and Peterborough matches. Their twin doubles
A sad reflection of modern society's instant gratification requirement, very grateful my boss isn't so fast with the trigger. I do understand that the owners invested heavily in the club but nothing is a given in this world and it just wasn't realistic that with so many new players we would be top of the league and sitting pretty. The same squad dismantled Derby and beat previous leaders Brighton and Southampton so the potential to develop as a team is there. Why now? Are the owners going to sanction loan signings and spend more money when we already have a massive squad? Surely a better move would have been to appoint an experienced coach to work with the players. It just doesn't make sense. Sorry to se him go, but having followed this team since the early seventies nothing that happens should surprise me.
He'd miss the first half an hour. Posh scored their 2-2 equaliser just as I arrived at the ground which was about 45 minutes before kick off. Wouldn't have made it though, he was too busy crying to the press.
