I won't be too critical if we don't get players in before the window. So many deals end up hinging on the other club buying someone else. Everybody has first choices and second choices and third choices, but you don't tell the players or other clubs that they might not be your first choice... you tell them whatever suits your negotiation position. It's like being in a very unstable house buying chain, where all the participants have bid on other houses too as a contingency. If you have villa amounts of money you can get round it with offers that can't be refused, but for those of us operating with a budget... In other words, if deals don't come off it isn't automatically due to lack of effort or mismanagement (though that may be a contributing factor!) Monk and jansson contracts the main signal of intent for me.
So if Monk and Jansson havent new contracts by Feb 1st, what will you be thinking or will you be happy to wait till summer?
I am sure that was the score last time we played them in the cup. Mind you we did have players like Bremner etc on the pitch...................
I know this is the Sutton / Leeds thread, but thought some might like to have a look at Dukes goal from 3 different angles http://www.shoot.co.uk/leeds-uniteds-souleymane-doukara/
I didn't like the sound of Cellino saying he'd told him not to go mad in the transfer window, shades of Bates thinking we were good enough to win it under Grayson then falling apart
Eire if I bought the club, my priority would be making sure that I and the manager were both happy with his contractual situation. Of course Monk might be perfectly happy with the one he's got, which is why armchair analysis is tricky! My point is, a signal of intent of the stability of the management team is a signal of the stability of the club, more reassuring for existing players and new recruits. My second priority would be securing the players that have helped deliver the success, Hernandez is done, Bartley looks like it's complicated, Jansson less so. Neither the manager's contract nor Jansson's I believe are subject to the transfer window, but the longer it drags the less confident I will be... likewise I suspect for the parties involved, which is not a good thing. I don't believe a word of what anyone says in football regarding, wanting to stay, happy at the club. They say what they have to publically. Signatures are my currency! It's a long answer but my toys will still be in the pram on feb first with no signings and no monk or jansson contracts, but I will be a little uneasier about things.
Triplets would be nice Boggers, or quads, 2 defenders, 1 midfielder and 1 striker. Jansson to Jansson, back to Jansson, Jansson forward for Jansson, Jansson goes screaming through the middle with a great forward pass to Jansson, Jansson beats one defender, passes back to Jansson, Jansson takes 2 steps forward and pushes it forward for Jansson to run on too, Jansson beats one and lets fly with his right foot, Gooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal, Jansson scores a belter from a beautifull through ball from Jansson...........or something like that....
Morning all, I would consider this a successful transfer window if we hold onto all our players and finalise Janssons contract. The squad has shown that we have p[layers who can come in and do the job already. Another striker is called for and while I dont disagree with this when Wood was out earlier in the season we were still scoring goals, one game saw 4 goals. A good back up would be nice but in January you either get players who are not good enough or overpriced if they are good enough. Is this something we want to get involved in? Personally no. We should be able to make several changes for Sunday and still comfortably win. We have a good, best in fact for a long time, squad so lets utilise it.
Wasn't worried Eire, and you may be right, they could be rumours, but there's a lot of articles doing the rounds. I know they tend to feed of each other but wouldn't be surprised if something has happened, but yet to be confirmed by Leeds.......
As soon as the Jannson deal is done it will be headlines on the OS and Popey/Hay will be onto it. It will happen no worries. Sutton should be another chance for Grimes to shine and if Mowatt is still here, him too. I had big hopes for the kid because he was the understudy to young Dawson who had a great first season in the first team. He got injured and never found his way back and we offed him. But Mowatt was a great replacement and we got a great first season out of him too. He has gone backwards/stood still put on weight/bulked up and only shows us glimpses of the promise he had. Feel hes a natural No10 but lacks consistency. No doubt when he goes he will do well and I hope he does, but not what we need right now.
We'll get a couple of loans in, that's my guess Don't think we should be getting anyone in for the sake of it at this point, better to think long term, wait and get the right players in as and when. We won't make top 2 this year, but we can make a good go at the play offs, if we fail then it will be something to build on for next season and then go for top 2.
Morning Boggers, two weeks ago I was told by the Not606 massive that we were not short on centre backs, personally I think we are in desperate need of another... Great time to be a Leeds fan
The 19-year-old killed in a barber's shop in Leeds is understood to be Raheem Wilks. His brother Mallik plays for Leeds United's under-23s.
The Pontus deal probably isn't as urgent as some of you think. He needs to play 22 games, he's done that. Doesn't mean the deal needs to be done in January. The loan as I understand is until May so as long as terms are agreed before then, the formality of the deal can be completed in June. Saying that, I would prefer it to be tied up sooner rather than later. Monk should be signed up ASAP though.
Its not Rad we need shot of... Before you start getting all ****ing ladidah you are lets not forget as shaks pointed out just a glory hunting blowin.... Where were you when we were ****?
Yep Wilkes's brother murdered and Monk has got him sorted and giving him and his family time and help. Feel for the kid but Harehills is dodgy if you keep the wrong company. Mowatt may be gone today according to Sobot and Phil Hay, and as someone mentioned earlier regarding centre backs, I do think we need to do something now. Bartley will be in the prem next season either with Swansea or a n other, unless Monk knows how to get the deal over the line. Cooper is good especially when you compare to what we've had recently, Jannson will be fine plus we have Ayling but unless we have a kid coming through we will need someone.
