I think all the suprises F1 has given us over the years, can anything NOT! be taken into account... It's all about the money...
I for one do not believe Sutil is better than Petrov. Sutil may well eventually find himself looking towards an 'EXIT' sign and will probably need to find some strings to pull lest he be found clutching at straws. It is not in the interests of the FIA to pursue an investigation until after any civil action is concluded. But if Sutil loses any such case, the FIA will have little option but to consider the public image of motorsport; and for the sake of credibility, will likely sever all ties with him.
"Furthermore, please note that Mr Eric Lux does not exclude commencing an action against any other persons involved in this matter." Who else might have been involved?
Its kind of irritating that Lux comes up with legal actions so late. I mean who wouldnt have taken immediate steps when its a clear case? But now a month later suddenly he changed his mind? Somethings wrong here if you ask me.
I am sure that Lux has sought professional advice which has considered the ramifications. It can take time to consider all legal advice before pursuing such action, particularly with high profile personalities where lawyers inevitably become involved. It is entirely possible that moves were made to reach an agreeable settlement to keep this out of the courts. These things can take time, particularly when involving international parties and foreign courts, and let's face it; lawyers tend not to be hasty…
Petrov is nowhere near as good as Sutil. Petrov did well in Australia, but since then he's not been that great and (with the greatest respect) Nick Heidfeld has passed his peak. Sutil has proven himself in overtaking, defensive driving, qualifying pace and since 2010, consistency. There were a lot of rumours about where Sutil would be in 2011 - being linked to Mercedes, Renault and even Ferrari. Meanwhile the only talk about Petrov was whether he would retain his seat. Sutil > Petrov
Oh dear GBH... he's accusing. (first time i've actually read it today) That'll get him 2-3 years in prison if he's found guilty. You watch, Hulk will be in that Force India soon enough.
OK José! I don't think it's quite so clear cut. I try to ignore the rumours and in my opinion, the first sentence of your appraisal of Sutil could also be applied to Petrov…
It could have been anyone, there was probably only a few drivers there, all with an entourage. It could just have been one of Sutil's staff stepping in to try and break things up, and knocking Lux over. Or it could have been one of the few hundred punters who were in the club.
I don't think there's much point speculating about a punishment but I would presume that the case will be heard in China and when one considers the possibility of them handing out a gigantic fine to a very wealthy foreigner, I would be very surprised if they actually lock him up.
I suppose it will be decided if it was an attempt to just hurt him, or to kill him. I've had family involved in a GBH, guy got sent down for 3 years. Of course I know Sutil is far richer than I am and will probably be fined and kicked out of the sport.
I think Sutil will get off, like all famous people do. Look at OJ Simpson he killed a person and got off, Kobe Bryant rapped at a 19 year old girl and did not get convicted, how many times have footballers been charged with assult or rape and have not been punished. In the real world if you are rich and famous you can pretty much do whatever the f*ck you want without any consequences.
Seems like Sutil isn't going to take this lying down... http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91470
I saw this a few minutes ago and came on here to see what was being posted about it, personally I can't believe Sutil was involved in an incident of this kind, to me he always comes across as a bit of a wimp, wouldn't surprise me if this Lux character has done something completely out of line to wind him up.
