It was weird how Saville got away with it for so long. At a time when everyone thought Saville was a saint, through work I was in regular contact with someone who worked in South Wales. He told me about kids he'd worked with who had been involved in *****phile rings including Saville, but also many celebrities. I started a thread on City Independent which numbered hundreds of posts. I was totally disbelieved until his story came out. His *****philia had links to royalty and No 10.
There is a lot of evidence out there that kids from children's homes were used and abused by politicians.
Anyone remember the home in Jersey were they found skeletons of children in the cellar. That was linked to top officials. Very odd that it all went quiet there. Kids from there claimed that Saville use to visit regularly. They also claimed that Edward Heath would take them on sailing trips and abuse them. Even that Saville would drive them to his boat. Both denied ever been there.

We have to differentiate between a serial killer and a serial abuser.
Sutcliffe murdered women. The police ****ed up.
Saville abused anyone he could and society ****ed up.

The role of the security services in supporting rent boy brothels to catch leading targets in honey traps was openly discussed in an interview with an MP, who named a high ranking IRA man that had been caught and 'blackmailed' into acting as a double agent. I doubt their involvement was limited to that, as there is a fair amount of information flaring around regarding them helping protect high ranking perverts. It could explain why the investigations keep getting stalled. We get thrown some seemingly high profile names just to give the appearance they're looking at it.

As for Dianne Core, I'm amazed you're not aware of the childline/child watch issue. I didn't think it was hidden.

I’ve just read a detailed account about the weekend Sutcliffe was caught.

Even in catching him it was all balanced on a knife edge and only several coincidental events actually ended up pinning him, he still almost walked away a couple of times!

you're right.. A lot more than twice, apparently the police went to his place of work so many times his workmates called him the ripper, and he never denied it. One copper knew it was Sutcliffe, but when he told his boss he was told to forget it!!!!!

I had to google to rejig my memory! There is no link between Core's Childwatch organisation and Rantzen's Childline. Apparently the latter was launched on a TV programme called Child Watch, which may have caused confusion.
Core was the founder of Child watch which was an organisation exposing *****phile rings. However it wasnt a telephone helpline.
I was working in East Hull Children's homes at the time when she was reporting that satanic abuse been absolutely rife in that area. We found it weird that we were working with some of Hull's most vulnerable teenagers, and yet we never heard anything. And there was never any evidence unearthed of one case in Hull. She claimed 4000 babies a year were sacrificed. Incidentally another claim she made was that hundreds of teenagers just disappeared, never to be seen again in the UK. Years later and totally unconnected, The Government announced an even greater number (looking at people trafficking rather than satanic sacrifices) were disappearing per year. East Riding had a substantial number (70 rings a bell, but it may not be that many) and were ordered to immediately investigate and report back. Nothing more sinister than the data collected was from the education roll and family's moving to other local authorities without informing the school!! Typically, these would be traveller families.

He was guilty of other murders (not the Ripper's), allegedly. That was the reason why he made the tapes etc, to try and lay his killings on the Ripper.

I somehow missed this. Sorry about that after you went to the trouble of explaining.

It's interesting to read your experiences. It looks like I've got a combination of mixed information, and a hazy memory, particularly with the telephone line aspect.

From memory, Core started off purely on child abuse, and it was Geoffrey Dickens that took it off on the satanic tangent later in the process.

I'll keep your experience in mind if I look into it again. One of the things that caused me to look back at it at the time, was a media comment on the Laverack murder, which described Hull as being a major hub for of *****philia, which shocked me at the time.
 
The police lost all credibility for the Ripper cases when the women that survived his attacks described Sutcliffe perfectly and said very clearly he had a local accent. George Oldfield had travelled so far down the Wearside Jack rabbit hole that he was unable to admit he might have been wrong and he overruled anyone on the investigation who thought differently from him. In true "looking after your own" style Oldfield was promoted sideways out of the way, although didn't he fall ill around then as well?

It's shocking looking back, just how much the idea of the establishment and respectability permeated society and protected abusers. Little kids and women weren't believed because respectable men didn't do that sort of thing, and how much shame it would bring on a family or an institution when there was a court case. Women were told they brought rape on themselves just for having the temerity to be out after dark on their own. I was a kid in the 70s and was completely unaware* of such things although I grew up in Manchester where the long shadow of the Moors Murders still touched every Mum who fretted when the kids went out to play and were late back home. I got lost out on my bike one day and found my way home long after tea and my parents were frantic with worry.

*always thought Saville and Harris were weirdos, but would not be able to articulate why I had that instinct.

I can agree about savile but Rolf??? Never heard a murmur or anything about him
Never suspected anything either. Great eccentric. Was gutted when it came out.

Never heard anything untoward in the abuse sense...
However (allegedly / unsubstantiated) rumour had it that when he was at New Theatre one year he was seen giving another chap or vica versa the dijarado technique in the back of a car...
 
Wasn't Keir Starmer now Labour leader, the head of the Crown Prosecution Service, and or the Attorney General, who made the decision not to pursue Saville in a court of law. Surely they had the evidence to nail him. Beggers the question. Why!!!

I never heard anything about him either, but I do remember the "yuk, I don't like him" cringy feeling I had when watching Saville or Harris on the telly, which I never had when watching people like Tony Hart or Johnny Ball or John Noakes. My vocabulary back then just extended to declaring Saville "silly" when Jim'll Fix It was on - which we still watched at Saturday teatimes. I liked some of the things the kids got to do (I remember one got to run along a long train made up of slam-door carriages slamming all the doors shut), but I hated the bits when he interviewed the kids and gave them the medal.

I don't remember anyone's parents fretting over their children or going frantic with worry in the 70's, seemed very much an era of under-parenting bordering on neglect compared to today?

Even less fretting in the 1960s. We called it freedom. Glad I was a teenager then.
