The one thing that really irks me is that these lads will probably be held back from achieving great things with the likes of City and Chelsea buying all their trophies. Christ, I read in another thread that Sterling apparently wants a massive pay rise... that worries me to some extent on his attitude. Would hate for someone like Chelsea or City come in with big bucks and drag him away.
He'd make a mistake leaving us for either of them tbh, he'd just end up on their bench or back in their reserves. He'd get more first team experience playing for us or even someone like Arsenal.
I really hope all these kids coming through are the start of something. There have been threads in the past showing teams with all theses kids starting and some have scoffed at it but it's now reality.
Give it to him.. but stack the deal towards the back end of the contact, many teams in the NFL do that... No idea how much he's on but you could for example give him a new 5 year deal, first 2 years he earns 20K + Bonuses a week, if conditions meet, bump him up to 40K a week for year 3, 45K for year 4 and then 50K in the final year, but in reality, he wouldn't be paid 50K in year 5 due to the fact that hopefully we'd have done a new long term deal by then... Sign him, Suso, Wisdom up to long term deals with huge buy out clauses!
The huge buy out clause should help, City were reluctant to spend this summer. That probably would have been different if they made it past the group stages of the CL.
NO. Tell both Suso and Sterling the truth. They are young and show promise - nothing more and nothing less. They are still at the bottom of the feeding order. If they want to chase the cash then go and do it. We will get the best price possible and go out and buy EVEN BETTER. These kids have to learn the realities of life before it is too late. LFC are offering them a terrific opportunity. Take it and their dreams will come true. Get above themselves and they will be treated with no sympathy. They have to learn now that NOBODY is bigger than the club and that LFC will survive and prosper irrespective of their presence.
Think I agree with you there Dave. Sterling looks the business, but he does seem to have a bit of an 'attitude'
just like michael owen... he got massive moeny early on and just didn't bother... if sterling wants his fair share fair enough, it is after all a short career but if he just wants more than he is worth (how many actual assists and goals so far??) then thats another story. we do have to realise that we set a precedent with both young boys as we gave suso's family a "scholarship" to get him and paid qpr for sterling so neither are boys who started at 8 and are badge kissers for life... they are there for the money and opportunity. they are getting one othe those so elts see how it goes eh?
