Good to see he has signed on for 3 more years. If we keep all involved I am happy with midfield options and any more signings in this department is a luxury

Good news - Surman had a purple patch in the period after new year and only lost his way a little when he and Hoolers played together towards the end of the season. Scored some vital goals too .... so pleased to see him stay as I think he could feature very prominently this coming season.

interesting to hear from michael bailey that surman was a 'wanted man'. great to get him tied down for three years then! how much did he cost - around £1m wasn't it? must be worth four or five times that now <ok>

It is good to hear Surman signing a new contract, I wonder who else will sign a new contract. Played very well last season and hope that he does well this season.

Did you see Holty's tweet about it? What did he mean about #bitofatriggerthough? was that an "only fools and horses" reference?

Just had a look and Holt's words were nice. Guess the 'trigger' thing is an 'in-joke' but I guess that you're right.

When he writes his tweets, do you think he writes them mainly for City fans?

I think he does! I'm sure he realizes he's been a bit of a dick and is trying to redeem himself!

Yet he still wants to leave!

If/when he goes, I think he will regret it for a long time. If, for whatever reason he stays, I don't think he will ever get the same support he used to get. He handed in a request when he could of easily waited until after Drury's testimonial at the earliest. Yet after all that, he still got a rapturous welcome from the City fans, yet he still thinks the right thing for him to do is to leave. Not hero to zero, but he seems to be trying his hardest to do that!

I think that, because of all the **** that's hit the fan, that it's gone too far to be resolved! I think he was badly advised by his agent, and didn't think things through before acting!

I'm equally sure that he regrets what has happened, but can't, or won't do anything about it!

He had his moments last season when he looked our best player. But so did most of them. It was strange how most of the outfield players had a string of games where they looked world beaters and within five games had been dropped to the bench.
