Surely execution is a fairer punishment? Like I said at the start of this whole thing, it's all going to be put down to some linguistical / cultural misunderstanding. And if Suarez had just thought to explain this to Evra after the game, after seeing how strongly he reacted during the game, the issue would probably never have reared its head in the first place.
Equally Evra could have talked to Hernandez and/or de gea to check his understanding before making an official complaint.
True enough. Tho' given Suarez was the one who gave offence, it would have made more sense for him to be the one to make the first move imo. Not sure about that - as stated on the other thread, the context can vary a lot between two sets of individuals. In fact, I'm pretty sure "negrito" can also be used in an offensive context, and is used as an insult by some Mexican gangs, so it's hard to say Hernandez' input would have resolved the situation.
Why would Suarez suspect he was angry at that particular word, how is suarez meant to know that evra has taken it in a different context. Lets be honest evra is generally a narky sod anyway so Evra being angry is nothing to arouse suspicion.
Evra was definitely getting very wound up by Suarez, even more than the whiny little man usually gets I've wound up a lot of opponents in my time, but after the game I would generally always make sure there was no offence taken, particularly if I'd used insults that had the potential to be taken personally. Tho' I guess professional footballers probably view it differently.
That mexican gangs may use a word in a particular way does not override the general consensus of the meaning of the term. I strongly doubt that any Spanish speaking player in United's squad would pick upon that particular interpritation.
