All the scaremongering and doomsday predictions from the Unionists are all hypothetical, as is all the wild exaggerations from the Nationalists.

I made the grave error of watching ***** Time last night on the BBC, and the Euro Sceptic Tories are using the same arguments as the Nats up here, and the pro-Euro Labourites and Liberals are using the same arguments as the Unionists.

Most Jocks are miserable alky bastards who stab each other, is this as good as it gets?

Yes.

Because it is an obvious achilles heel.
I find the wilful ignorance and repositioning amusing.

Yes.

its an obvious obsession.

you took chemistry and home economics and you think its possible to deep fry heroin?

i like how you use big words and then are tripped up by the most trivial of things like confusing nationalities with wheat and rye based beverages, deep frying smack and half flags.

<doh>

They just found another 1bn barrels in one field. A field that has been going since the late 70's.

I'll listen to the industry experts I deal with day after day and no some ****ey article you pulled out yer arsehole.

this.

plus they are revisiting previously discovered fields that were deemed uneconomically viable but with new advances in technology it isn't. i'm sure there are fields to the north west aswell.

The fact that English (and Scottish people!) keep using this as an argument against Independence baffles me. Even if it were true what sort of human, or society wants to maintain a system of dependence on others?

The drive should not come from the promise of a nicer house or a bigger TV, but the hope that you may attain a sense of dignity and self respect.

Says the guy who lives on the Isle of Man (land of tax dodging reactionary throwbacks).

I live on the Isle of Man because there is work on the Isle of Man - there is work on the Isle of Man because the government here is independent of West Minster.

Oil and Gas UK - the industry body - estimated that up to 24 billion barrels of oil and gas equivalent could still be recovered. These reserves are estimated by the Scottish government to have a potential wholesale value of up to £1.5tn.

Fair enough. And there's me thinking you lived on a rock because you refuse to pay taxes. Which might disqualify you from banging on about "dignity and respect" in the context of nationalism.

Aye because all the money will magically go into every one of our bank accounts when we vote yes.

Off course it wouldn't, but it does prove that there is enough money there for Scotland to run itself, if it can get it's house in order.

No

No. You have extrapolated too much. A real failing.

I like how you are a ****wit but seemingly unaware.

I pay lots of tax, undoubtedly much more than I take back in services used. It is true that the tax burden here is cheaper than it is in the UK, and that there are more jobs available here, and that there is less crime here, and that there are better schools here, and that there is a great free health service here - what moral justification is there against a man making the choice to live somewhere that is better managed than another place - and why does that choice, to choose one state over another, disqualify me from banging on about dignity and respect in the context of nationalism?

I could take an average programming job in Belfast and I'd be eligible to pay about the same amount of tax as a percentage of income as I do now. However I would have the benefit of working family tax credits since the average wage there is so low - so people, from England mostly, would be subsidising my lifestyle. That is a choice I could make tomorrow, to live subsidised by others rather than to be subsidising others as I do now - would it bring me more dignity and respect from yourself?

Aye, every other **** who has read the BBC's website is suddenly an expert though.

20 years ago most of the fields were nearing the end of their lifetime according to the papers and the scaremongers. One of those fields is the one which they just found the 1bn barrels under. Another 15-20 years it'll have now.

That's 50-60 years for just one field at approx 25k barrels a day.
